Item I will and beequeathe all my moveable goods, corne, cattell and Chattells (excepting one lease wche I latelye purchased of William Norton of Chillenden my father in Lawe) to bee devided in two equall partes, the one halfe I give unto Alice my wyfe and the other halfe I give unto my children to bee devided amongest them equallye by my ovrseers, excepting my best bedsteedle, and best bedd wth all the furniture to yt beelongeing wch I give unto Alice my wyfe the use of wch goods beequeathed unto my Children I give unto Alice my wyfe untill my Children come to the severall ages of xviij [18] yeares
And my will ys that yf anye of my children goe doe bee warne owt as mardyred that my wyfe shall make them soe much money worth as shee fownde
them unto my children,
and my will ys that yf anye of my Children shall dep[ar]te this lyfe beefore there sevrall ages of xviij yeares, then there pte to reemaine unto
the survivors
Item I will the lease of the howse and landes that I latelie purchased of my father in lawe William
Norton shalbee sold by my executrix towards the payment of my debts
Allsoe I will that the preacher shall have for his paines at my funerall vjs viijd
Lastlie I doe ordaine and make Alice my wyfe executrix of this my laste will and testament & I doe request my brother Henry Rose of Chistlett and my brother Richard Joade to bee my ovrseers thereof
This is the last will and testament of mee the saide Andrewe Joade made the daye and yeare abovesaide of all my houses, Tenements, landes, and hereditaments as followeth
First I give and beequeath my mansion howse and all other edifices and ..mleeinges? and all my landes and hereditaments wth there appurtenannces sett, lyeinge and beeing in (the) pishe of Wickhmbrewe unto my sonne William Joade and to his heires males at his age of xxjtie yeares, chardged as followeth, th[a]t neither hee nor his heires males of his bodye after him shall sell, morgage, or graunte anye annuytie owt of the saide pr[e]misses unto anye man, and yf hee doe then hee and his heires shall bee voide of this my guifte and to remaine to my sonne John and to his heires males of his bodye Lawfullie beegotten
And yf my sonne John or his heires males attempte likewyse to morgage or graunte anye annuytie owt of the prmisses, or sell yt, or anye pte thereof, then I will yt to remaine unto my brother Richard Joade and to his heires males, upon condicon that hee shall not sell yt, or morgage yt, or graunte anye annuytie owt of yt, and yf hee dow sell yt, then to remaine to the eldest heires male of the Joades for ever as aforesaide
Item my will and minde ys that Alice my wyfe shall have my howses and landes aforesaide, untill my sonne William shall accomplishe the age of xxjtie yeares, payeing my sonne William xli [£10] yearelie owt of yt towards his maintenannts, and upon condicon that my wyfe shall keepe my howses sufficientlie repaired in as good sorte as they nowe bee
Allsoe my will and minde ys that my sonne William when he shall Come to the age of xxjtie yeares shall paye unto my wyfe yearelie dureing her
naturall lyfe xli of lawfull money of Englande at the feaste of thannyncon or oure Lade and St. Michaell tharchangele by even portions
And yf yt happen ye saide xli or anye pte thereof to bee beehinde or unpaide by the space of x dayes, after anye of the feaste dayes in wch yt
owght to bee paide, that then, and soe often as yt or anye pte thereof shall bee beehinde yt shall bee lawfull unto the said Alice my wyfe, or
her assignes, to enter into the prmissesw, or anye pte thereof, and to distraine, chyes distres or distresses to wthhold
and keepe, irreplegeable untill shee bee fullie satisfied .... and paide
Item I will that my sonne William Joade shall paye unto his three sisters Joane, Alice and Ewe [Eve] the some of xlli [£40] a peece when they shall come to the age of 22tie yeares; yf anye of his saide sisters shall dye beefore they shall come to the saide age of 22tie yeares then of the said xlli shall remaine to his sisters or sister that shall survive
Item I will that my sonne William shall paye yearelie unto my sonne John vli [£5] till hee shall come to the age of xviij yeares to
maintaine him at scoole
Item I give unto my sonne John Joade at his age of xviij yeares vj acres of mershlande lyeing in the pishe of Stowermouth to him & to his heires
forever, the proffitts thereof I will to Alice my wyfe till hee accomplishe the said age of xviij yeares towards his maintenannte and bringeng
upp,
provided allwayes that yf my sonne William shall dye, or shallbee voide of my howse and lands by force of this my will, that then my will ys that
my sonne John shall paye his three sisters sixescore pownds as aforesaide

Item I give unto my sonne John Joade one howse a topp of the hill nowe [abridging?] and three gardens of layde bee yt more or lesse adjoyning to

Item I give more unto my sonne John two acres of lande bee yt more or lesse lyeing and beeing in grove derlee [Ferry?] for ever, provided that
my sonne John to have the proffitt prsentlie after my decease;

Andrew Joade was buried at St. Andrew, Wickhambreaux on 29th November 1607.
Andrew Jade married Alicia Norton 13th October 1580 at St. Mildred, Preston-by-Wingham, Kent
Children found: Willm 22 Nov 1589 & Eve 1 Oct 1591 (St. Mary, Nonington); Jone [John?] 3 Dec 1594 & Alyce 12 Dec 1596 (St. Nicholas,
Ash-next-Sandwich); Marie 19 Apr 1601 (All Saints, Stourmouth).
