In the name of God Amen the xixth [19th] day of May in the yeare of our Lord God A thowsand five hundreth foure skore six [1586]
I Mathew Johnson of the p[ar]ishe of Eastlangden beinge sick and weake in bodye but of parfect memory (praised be God) doe ordaine this my present testament and last will in mann[e]r and forme as followeth
First I commende my soule to allmighty God my Creator and maker beleevinge by the only merrytts of Jesus Christ to have full remission of all my sinnes I committe my body to the earthe to be buryed in the Churche Yard aforesaide

First as touchinge all my temporall and moveable goodes whatsoever I give unto Anne my wife toward the education and bringinge upp of my children

Also as touchnge my landes & tenements in the towne and port of Dovor I will my wife shall have to her use dureinge her naturall life,
and after her decease I will Willyam my sonne shall have the same to him and his heries for ever

Yet Provided allwaye that if my wyfe conveniently cannott pay my debtes and bringe up my children otherwise without sale of the said house and lands thereunto belonginge that then, notwithstandinge my said gift to my said sonne shall not be avalsable [available?], but it shalbe lawfull for my said wife Anne to sell the same at her will

And of this my last will and testament I make my wife Anne my sole executrix And my good frend Mr. James Master Overseer of the same
