First I will that Alice my wif shall have and occupie all my lands and tenets. untill John my Sonne come to thage of xxj yeares so as he keepe lawfull reparacon [repairs] and paye the Lorde of the Fee overs... ?

whete and thre qurtes of barley and a horse prie [price] xxs

cometh to thage of xxi yeares lxs that ys to say to be paid within fowre yeares xs every yeare
Also yf it be a mayde childe that my wif goeth wthall she shall have xs paid by my said sonne

And yf it happen that all my children die wthin age without issue of their bodyes lawfully begotten Then I will that my said Exors [Executors] shall sell my lands and tenents. to the best valew that they can or may And the money comyng to be bestowed after this manr [manner] folowinge
First I will that a preiste shall synge for my soule my frends soules and all xpian [christian] soules by the space of thr [three] quarters of one yeare and he shall have for his labours fyve pounds of lawful money of England
Item I will that there be bestowed in such wayes wthin the Nothe boroughe in the same pishe xls
Item to the reparacons of Saynet Peters church forsaid fyve ponnds
Item to poore people other fyve ponnds
And if my wif Alice do lyve then I will she shall have iiijl [4 pounds] of lawfull money

Notes:
As this pre-dates parish registers (which start in 1588 in St. Peter�s), there is no other record of
this family. However, his father left a Will thus:
PRC 17/11/330 Will of John Kempe of St. Peter in Thanet, dated 2nd May 1511 and Proved 9th July 1511.
Regretfully, as the first part of John Kempe�s Will was in Latin, it has not been transcribed � only the 2nd, English, part.
It does, however leave all the lands etc. to son Stephen and mentions his * wife Johanne � who is also mentioned in Stephyn�s Will. John fails to mention who his daughter is by name.
