In the name of god Amen The xvjth day of the moneth of October in the yere of our lord God [1543]
I William Kempe Clerke Vycar of the pyshe or our blesses ladye of Northgate in the Citie of Canabubury [Canterbury] being of holle mynde and of good memorye do ordeyn and make my last will and testament in his manner and forme following
Firste I bequethe my Soule into allmightie god to our blesses lady and to all the reashall ? company my body to be buried wthin [within] the paryshe church of northegate afoesayd sganse the fonte there

Item I will at my burienge my moneth of mynd my moneth of org? and my xij moneth daye at everye of them to be sayd placebo no dirige p x tymes masse [vx masses?]
Item I will to thuse [the use] of the hygh aulter there one green coverlet and thappell [the apparel] of one albe of whit velvet

Item I will to Alyce Marrable ij candlesticke and a chest standing in the grete chamber
Item I give unto Thomasine Marrable my seconde fetherbed a matresse and ij cnadlesticke the cuoebord in the hall a fire chaser and one andiron

Item I bequethe unto Willm Marrable a litle chest standing by my bedde syde
Item I bequeth to John Clerke Junior iij litle candlesticke
Item I will to Thomas Putterell one paier of stirropes and a cheste standing in the upper chamber

Item I give unto Alyce the wyf of John Clerke a table of the picuse [picture?] of our blessed lady
Item I bequethe to Roger Edenstance Clerke one ramall and x stones of white amber
Also I will that my billet and ales shalbe given to nedy and poore people

The Residewe of all my goodes not bequethed I will and give holly to John clerke Senior of the pryshe of Northegate beforesayd whom I doe ordeyn and make my sole executor of thie my last will and testament to do for my Soule and all xpian [Christian] soules amen

* John Swetinge, probably his brother, was Vicar of Holy Cross, Canterbury at commencement of registers in 1563 and remained there for decades until his death.
