In the name of god amen The xxxth daye of Aprill And in the Seconde yeer of owre Souraigne Ladye Elyzabethe by the grace of God of England frannce and Irlonde Quene Defendowre of the feithe etc. [1560].
I John Kempe of Smarden laude and prayse be unto Almightye god beinge sicke in my boddye but Whole of memorye and good of remembrance do ordaine and make thys my last wll and testament In manner & forme followinge (that ys to saye)

Item I will and bequeth to the poore mans boxe ijd
Item I will and bequethe to my daughters xxs of lawfull monnye of Englande to be payde unto them wthin twelve monthes and a daye after my dyscease / that is to saye
to my daughter Alyce vs and to my daughter Rabedge vs and to my daughter Julyan xs
yf anye of my saide daughters dye one to be anothers heire

Item I will to my daughter Julyan a brasse pott, a pewter dyshe, and a sacoser, and one of my best cainsye? chestes
Item I will to my godsonne Abraham Clover xijd to be payde wthin one quarter after my dyscease

All the Resydew of my goods and cattales any debtts and Legacyes being paide I gyve and bequeth unto Margery my wyffe Whome I make and ordaine myne Executryx of thys my laste will and testament

Notes:
Annoyingly, John Kempe�s burial is just before the commencement of parish registers for Smarden.
However, daughter Rabidge Kempe dies and is buried there on 1st Mar 1564.
