In the name of God Amen the xxvth daie of Marche in the yeare of our Lord God a thousand fyve hundreth six(ty) non (nine)
I Thomas Kempe of the parishe of West Langdon being sicke of boddye, But of good, and perfecte remembrannce thanked be God doe make this my laste Will and Testament yn manner and forme followinge
First I bequeathe my Soule unto Allmightie God and my boddye to be buried yn the churche yarde of West Langdon aforesaide

Item I will that Elizabeth my Wife shalhave all my landes and Tennemetes [Tenements] soe lying and being yn the parishe of west Langdon and Norborn [Northbourne] And mye moveable goods wth the leaselande and houses lying and being wthin the parishe of West Langdon for terme of her lyfe keeping the saide Tennemetes (sic) Barnes and other howses sufficientlye repaired

Item I bequeathe to Joanne my doughter the wife of Thomas Strannd mye Barne and mye Stables lying in the parishe of west Langdon and two acres and a half or lande lying yn the parishe of Norbourne (sic) after the decease of Elizabeth mye Wife To hir and hir heires for ever

And I will that yf my doughter Joanne channce to decease Then I will that the said two acres and a half wth the Barne and Stable to remayne to mye sonne Thomas Strannde yf Tomas Strande chance to decease wthowte Yssue Then I will the saide Barne Stable and landes aforesaide shall remayne to his brother yf he have waye ry...ning [remaining?]? Yf he have none Then I will the said Barnes Stables and landes shall remayne to the nexte of my bloode

Item I bequeathe to Thomsyn mye doughter after mye Maynes [months?] decease half an acre of land called Coppyns yardes Allso I bequeathe to the said Thomsyn half an acres of arable land called Smallwaye Shotte yn the parishe of West Langdon To her and her heires for ever Allso I give to Thomsyn my doughter and to her husbande the lease of the hosue I dwell yn after the decease of Elizabethe my wife
Item I bequeathe to Thomsyn mye doughter a cheste

Item I bequeathe to Richard Labourne half a quarter of Barley to be paied wthin two yeares after the said Johane shall come to the age of one and twenty [this is NOT clear!] of my said landes

Item I bequeath to Samwell Kemp the doughter of my sonne Thomas* five shillinges to be paide after the decease of my wife by mye doughter Thomasyn or her husbande And I wull that mye said doughter shall see yt bestowed for the childes prophet untill she come to thage [the age] of eighteene yeares
* It is written as Samwell daughter of Thomas � but no such christening found.

The Reasydwe [residue] of all my goods moveable and unmoveable not bequeathed, my debtes and legaces fullye contented and paide I give and bequeathe to Elizabethe mye Wif Wch Elizabethe I make and ordeyn of this mye oresent Testament and laste Will my sole Executrixe
And I make & ordayne of this mye present Testament and last will George Knott mye Overseer and he to have for his paynes a xiijd

Item I bequeathe to Thomas Strande my Tymber that lyeth yn the Barne
Item I bequeathe to the said Thomas mye Cloake
Item I bequeathe betwixte my two doughters Joanne and Thomasyn one owe equally to be devided betwixte them
Item I will that my doughter Thomasyn shalhave of mye Wish one two-yearing Bullocke accordinglye as I promised her husbande at his marriage

Item I will foure Ellmes to be solde to help to paye mye debts wch as Thomas Andrew Gent. and shall thinke beste
Witnesses of this my present Testamente and laste Will

Notes:
Daughter Joane Kempe married Thomas Strand 20th January 1562 at St. Mary the Virgin, West Langdon
Son Thomas Kempe married Tomsyn (no surname) up the road at Ringwould on 27th July 1562.
