In the name of god amen
I John Kempe of Kennington in the diocese of Canterburye beinge sicke of bodie but whole of minde praised be god doe ordaine & make this my last will and testamente the xxiijth daie of October in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand fyve hundreth fowre score and two in manner and forme followinge

Item I wyll geve and devise to Willm my Sonne and to his heyres in fee symple my howse with thappurtenances in Kennington as abovesaide commonly called the White Howse

I will to my daughter Johane the somme of fortie markes of good English money wch forty markes My will is that my exeuctor shall employe to some benefitt for the bringing upp of my said daughter and at her age of twentie yeares or at the daye of her marriage the which shall first come the said fourtie markes shalbe paide and delivered unto her

Item my will is that if my daughter doe departe this naturall liffe before that the said money shalbe paide unto her yt then my foresaid sonne shall have the same And if both doe departe that then the same money shalbe equally devyded between my brothers [and] sisters

Item I will to my said daughter her mothers weddinge ringe and her mothers cheste and all the Linnan there in

Item my will and intente is that my exeuctors shall have the lettinge and orderinge of my said howse and the takinge upp of the profittes thereof to the use of my fore saide sonne untill he come to the age of xxj yeares and then I will that my saide sonne shallenter therein And if he departe this mortall liffe before the age of xxi yeares, ytt my will is that my saide executor shall have theorderinge thereof and the takinge upp of the profittes of the sayd howse to the use of my said daughter untyll she accomplishe the age of xxj yeres

Item I geve to my saide sonne my cheste in the shopp and a paire of sheetes
Item I will to the poore of the p�ishe of Kennington xs
Item I wyll to my Brother Roger [Kempe] xxs
Item for my Sister Elizabeth xls
Item I geve to my syster Marrye two Lambes
Item I geve to her daughter my god daughter two Lambes
Item I geve to Alexander Pembrooks children eache of them a lambe

The Residue of all my goodes and chattells my funerall expences discharged, my debtes and legacies payde, and the fourtye markes to be answered and deducted unto my daughter as abovesaide I Wyll shall remaine in the hands of my Executor, to the use of my sonne & daughter abovesayd to be equallye devyded & delyvered unto them at the foresaide age of xxith years

Item I will my Mr. Richard Ellis iijl which Mr. Ellys I doe ordaine and make my sole executor of this my last will
Item I geve Kencham�s (?) wydow four bushells of apples

In Wytnes hereof I have sett my seale the daye and yeare above written

Notes: This is a branch of the Kempe�s of Wye, Kent.
John Kempe married Mary Philpot 27th September 1572 at Kennington.
Brother Roger Kempe died and was buried at Boughton Aluph on 1st March 1602.
