In the name of God Amen the xijth day of November in the yeare fromm the incarnation of our Lorde & only Saviour Jesus Christe 1582
I Thomas Kempe of the parishe of Birchington in the yle [Isle] of Thanet wthin [within] the Countye of Kent Yeoman being sick in body but of a p�fect and good remembrannce thankes be to God do make and ordayne this my present last will and testament in manner and forme following
Fyrst and above all thinges I yelde up geve and bequeathe mysoule into the handes of allmightie God the father the sonne and the holy ghoste a blessed trinitie and only one everlasting and true god And I hope to be saved by the merritts & passion of my saviour Jesys Christe And I will my bodye to be buryed in the pishe churche of Birchington aforesayd

Item I geve to Katheryne my daughter the some of Forte ponndes of good & lawfull mony of England to be payd to her at her age of xxj yeres
But if she happen to dye before she receive of the said Fortie ponndes That then I will the said some of Fortie ponndes shall remayne & be to the use of the children of John Kempe my sonne and to the children of John Moland by my daughter Joane equally to be devyded amongst them.

Item I geve to my daughters Mary Dennis and Alice to evry of them thirtie ponndes of currant mony to be paid to them and every of them at the dayes of theis severall ages of xxj yeres
And I will that if any of my said thre daughters Mary Dennis and Alice shall hapen to departe this life before they shall have reveaved their severall portions of thirtie ponndes a peece That then the porcon or porcons of the deceased shall remayne and be to her or them that shall survive.
But in case that all my said three daughters shall happen to departe this life before they shall have receaved their severall porcions as is aforesaid that then my will mynde and intente is that the said some of foure score and ten ponndes before me lymited to my daughters shalbe & remayne to the use of my sonne or sonnes that shalbe then living

Item I geve to my two sonnes George and Thomas the some of six score ponndes [�120] of currant mony equally to be among them and one of them to be an others heire and to have the said some of mony at their ages of xxj yeres

Item I will that the porcons of mony that before I have geven to my sonne George videlicet [vizt.] threscore ponndes And to my daughters Dennis and Alice videlicet [vizt.] iijl shall remayne and be in the custodye of my Cousen Nicholas Terry untill my sonne and my sayd daughters shall come to the tyme before lymited to receave the same And to the said Nicholas Terry in respecte of the use of the said monye to see my said children well brought up

Item I will that the porcon of mony wch before I have geven to my sonne Thomas viz. threscore ponndes and to my eldest daughter Katheryne viz. xll And to my daughter Mary viz. xxxl shall come to the tyme wch before I have appointed for them to receave the same And the said Richard Hawkins in respect of the use of the sayd mony to see my said thre children well brought up Item if Johane my wyfe be with child That then I geve to the sayd Childe xxxl to be payd at the age of xxj yeres of the said childe
Item I geve to the poore people of the said pishe one shilling equally to be devyded

Item I geve to George my sonne to his heires and assignes for ever in fee simple my pte [part] and purparte of the tenement wch I bought of Christian Pelat? in consideracon that the said George shall not at any tyme hereafter make any clayme to a little house & two acres of grounde scituate lyinge & being in Bekesbourne wch the said George shoulde have had as appeareth by his grandfathers Will

And I will that Johane my wife shall have the benefit of the said childs third pte and purpart of the said tenement untill George my sonne shall come to the age of xvij yeres

Item I geve to Johane my wife my lease of Brokes ende uppon Condicon that wthin thre monethes after my decease she wth suche shall enter unto bonde to Richard Hawkins to discharge the said Richard Hawkins of a bonde wherein he standeth bonnde for me for the said lease or els I geve the said lease to the said Richard Hawkins

All the residue of my moveable goods my debtes & legacyes being payde my funerall discharges I geve and bequeath unto Johane my wife
and I ordayne & make the said Johane my wife to be the sole Executrix of this my last will and testament
and John Sackett & Nicholas Swinford to be the overseers of the same

Notes:
See also son�s Will: PRC 32/45/29 Will of Thomas Kempe of Birchington, dated 29th January 1619 and Proved 11th February 1619(20).
Thomas Kempe (senior) was buried at All Saints, Birchington on 11th March 1585.
His marriage to wife Johan has not been found, nor has his christening, which probably pre-dates the commencement of parish registers.
Eldest daughter Katherine was christened at St. Mary, Minster in Thanet on 31 Dec 1566.
She married 26th October 1587 at St. Lawrence in Thanet to John Cooper.
John Kempe and Johane Kempe�s christenings have not been found.
Johana Kempe married Johes (John) Molland 4th June 1582 at Birchington.
John Kempe probably married Alice Beech 7th Feb 1568 at Stourmouth (but there are other possibilites).

Son George Kempe was christened 10th Jan 1570 at Minster in Thanet.
He may have married Mary Alwinkell at St. Peter, Thanet on 26th August 1599. They had 2 known children:
10-Aug 1600 C Mary Kemp (at) St. Peter in Thanet
10-Jan 1602 C Thomas Kempe (at) Margate, St. John the Baptist

Son Thomas Kempe was also christened at Minster on 9th August 1575.
Mary (Maria) Kempe was christened 13th Apr 1572 at St. Mary, Minster in Thanet. No marriage found as yet.
Daughter Alice Kempe was christened at Birchington July 1581 (exact date missing due to register damage). No marriage found.
Daughter Dennis Kempe�s christening has not been found, but she was buried at Birchington on 24th April 1585.
