In the name of God Amen the Eighteenth day of November Anno Dini. 1635 And in the eleavanth yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles (1st) by the Grace of God of England Scotland Frances and Ireland King Defender of the faith etc.
I Charity Kempe of the p�ish of St. Margaret in the Citty of Canterbury Widow being sick in body but of good and p�fect remembrance (God be praised) doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following (That is to say)
First I do comend my Soule into the hands of Almighty God beeing fully assured of the free pardon and remission of all my sinnes by the only merrits, birth death and passion of Christ Jesus my only Lord and saviour by his right course imputed unto mee And I comend my body to the Earth from whence it was taken there to rest in expectation of a glorious resurrection to eternall life to bee buried in the Churchyard at Littlebourne at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named

Item I give unto the poore of the parishe of Littlebourne aforesaid Ten Shillings to bee distributed amongst them at his discrecon within one month next after my decease
Item I give unto the poore of the parishe of St. Margaret [Canterbury] the like sum of Ten Shillings to bee distributed amongst them within one month next after my decease

Item I give unto my Cozen Elizabeth Kempe daughter of Walter Kempe the sume of Tenn pounds of lawfull English mony and all my household stuffe and all my best wearing apparrell saveing only two great wooden chests to bee paid and delivered unto her at her age of one and Twenty yeares or daye of marriage which shall first happen

Item I give unto my Cozen John Baker the sonne of William Baker the like sume of Tenn pounds to bee paid unto him at his age of one and Twenty yeares
Item I give unto my Cozen William Gilbert of Smeeth the sume of Twenty pounds of lawfull English mony to bee paid unto him within Three months next after my decease

Item I give unto my Cozen Thomas Gilbert sonne of the aforesaid William Gilbert the full sume of Ten pounds of lawfull English mony to bee paid unto him at his age of one and Twenty yeares
Item I give unto my Cozen Simon Gilbert one of the sons of the aforesaid William Gilbert the full Sum of Ten pounds of lawfull English mony to bee paid unto him at his age of one and Twenty yeares

Item I give and bequeath unto John Digges of the p�ish of St. Paul [Canterbury], Baker, the sume of five pounds of lawfull English mony to bee paid unto him within three monthes next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto John Gilbert William Gilbert Elizabeth Gilbert and Charity Gilbert children of my Cozen Thomas Gilbert of St. Margarets aforesaid, Baker, the severall Sumes of Twenty pounds a peece of lawfull English mony to bee paid unto them at their severall age of one and Twenty yeares

Item the residue of all my goods Chattells plate ready mony and p�sonall Estate whatever I give and bequeath unto my said Cozen Thomas Gilbert whome I doe ordaine and make sole Executor of this my will Desirringe him to be Carefull in the p�formance whereof revokeing all former Wills by mee made

Notes:
Walter Kempe married Charity Rigden, Widow, both of Littlebourne, at St. Mary Breadman, Canterbury on 24th March 1602. His death has not been found.
On 22nd Oct. 1618, Elizabeth was christened to Walter Kempe at St. Vincent, Littlebourne.
Charity Kempe was buried at St. Vincent, Littlebourne on 23rd November 1635.

Walter Kempe was christened at Hoath 3rd April 1575, s. of Walter Kempe.
Siblings: (all christened at Holy Cross, Hoath): Godley, 6th July 1570; Mary 14th Sept. 1572.
Walter Kempe (senior) married Elener Crump 13th Oct. 1569 at Holy Cross, Hoath.

There is a Will for Walter Kempe (senior) dated 1575, of Reculver: PRC/32/32/118.
