Memorandum That Margaret Kempe late of the Town of Hith [Hythe] in the County of Kent
and Diocese of Canterbury, widow, deceased being or perfect minde and memory and haveing
a full intent and purpose to make her will and dispose of her Estate did in the time of her last
sickness whereof she dyed and a little before her death send for her Cousen Peter Johnson of
Hith (sic) aforesaid, and he coming to her accordingly, the said Margaret Kempe did say and
declare her will by word of mouth as followeth Vizt.
She the said Margaret speaking to the said Peter Johnson said, Cosen I give unto you all that I
have to bring up this lame child withall (meaning her daughter Mary Kempe)
except my wearing apparrel and my best hatt which I give to my Daughter Sarah Kempe
or the said like words to that effect in the place and hearing of
Mary White Anne Rippingdale and Elizabeth Hadd and also of the said Peter Johnson and Sarah Kempe
