In the name of God Amen
I John Kemp of the Town and Port of Sandwich in the County of Kent Mariner being in bodily health and of Sound and disposing mind and memory and Considering the perills and dangers of the Seas and other uncertaintys of this Transitory Life (do for avoiding Controversies after my decease) make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say)
First I recommend my Soul to God that gave it and my Body I commit to the Earth or sea as it shall please God to order And as for and concerning all my Worldly Estate I give bequeath and dispose thereof as followeth (that is to say)

All and Singular my parts Shares and Interests of and (in) any Ship or Ships and also all my Wages Sume or Sumes of Money Lands Tenements Goods Chattells and Estate whatsoever as shall be in any ways due owing or belonging unto me at the time of my Decease I do give devise and bequeath the same unto Sarah my Dear and Loving Wife and to her heirs and assigns for ever

And I do hereby nominate and appoint the said Sarah my Wife Sole Executrix of this my Last Will and testament hereby revoking all former and other Wills Testaments and Deeds of Gift by me at anytime heretofore made and I do ordain and ratify these P�sents [Presents] to stand and be for and as my Last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof to this my said Last Will and Testament I have Set my hand and Seal the fifteenth day of May Anno Dini 1717 and in the third Year of the Reign of his Majesty King George over Great Britain, etc.

John Kemp, of St. Lawrence in Thanet, aged 28, married Sarah Does, of Sandwich, also aged 28, at St. Andrew, Canterbury on 16th April 1694.

John Kemp�s burial is not found in Sandwich or anywhere close by.
Sarah Kemp was buried at St. Mary, Sandwich on 28th December 1749.
John Kemp was not christened at St. Lawrence in Thanet.
Son Joseph Kemp married Margaret Longley 14th September 1729 at St. Lawrence in Thanet.
Their only known child, John Kemp christened there on 19th April 1730.
Son William Kemp married Jane Raite on 6th May 1734 at St. Mary the Virgin, Sandwich. Their only known child, Richard Kemp was christened at St. Mary, Sandwich on 9th May 1736.
