I give devise and bequeath unto my good friend Thomas Wilkinson of Dover aforesaid rope and sail maker and to my loving wife Sarah and the survivor of them all my freehold and leasehold messuages lands tenements and hereditaments goods chattels plate linen woolen debts ready money and securities for money and all other my real and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever co lease to them their heirs executors and administrators upon trust and to and for the several uses intents and purposes herein after set forth and declared. That is to say
in trust that my said Sarah and her assigns shall receive take possess enjoy and use the same for and during the term of her natural life for her own use and benefit free from the control or interruption of any of my children or other persons or person whomsoever she committing no waste or spoil therein or permitting the same to be done by others except what must happen from the necessary ware and use thereof and from and after her decease in trust to pay apply and dispose of the rents issues interest and profits of my said real and personal estate for and towards the maintenance education and bringing up of any and every my children until they shall respectively attain the age of one and twenty years and when and as soon as the youngest of my said children shall have attained the said age of one and twenty years then in trust to convey assign and divide and pay my said real and personal estate and all profit and increase to be made of the same unto and amongst all and every my said children in equal shares and proportions
and in case any of my said children shall happen to die before her she or they be entitled to receive their share or shares of my said real and person under and by virtue of this my will then in trust to convey assign and pay the share and interest of such child or children so dying unto his her or their issue or issues at the times my said children or child so dying would have been intitled to receive the same as aforesaid had they been living
and in case any or other of my said children shall happen to die before he she or they shall be
intitled to receive their share or shares of my said real or personal estate by virtue of this my will
and without issue then in trust to convey assign and pay the share and shares of such of them so
dying without issue unto and amongst the survivors or survivor of my said children and the
issue of such as shall be then dead in equal shares the issue of such as shall then be dead Taking
the share only their deceased father or mother would have taken had they been living at the time
the same as herein before directed to be shared and divided as aforesaid and in case all my said
children shall happen to die in the lifetime of my said wife without issue then in trust to convey
assign and pay all my said real and personal estate unto and for the only proper use and benefit
of my said wife her heirs executor administrators and assigns
and I give unto the said Thomas Wilkinson one guinea to buy him a ring
and I do hereby charge and make chargeable all my said estates and effects with the payment of my just debts funeral expenses and the charges of proving and executing this my will and do appoint the said Thomas Wilkinson and my said wife executors of this my will hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this only to be my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have to this my last will and testament ordained in three sheets
of paper to the first two sheets thereof set my hand and to this third and last sheet my hand and
seal this sixteenth day of September in the eighteenth year of the reign of our sovereign lord
George the Third by the grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland King Defender of the
Faith and so forth and the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight.

The before registered will of Samuel Kemp late of Dover deceased was proved the 20th day of June 1786 before the Reverend Joshua Dix, clerk surrogate to the worshipful William Wynne Doctor of Law Vicar General to his Grace John by Divine Providence Lord Archbishop of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Sarah Kemp widow the relict and one of the executors named in the said will she being first sworn well and truly to perform the same.

Samuel Kemp married twice � firstly to a Susanna (not found). Susanna died and was buried
14th April 1755 at St. Mary the Virgin, Dover. Their known children (all St. Mary, Dover):
