Will of John King

of Dover, Kent

I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary King all and singular my household goods and furniture plate linen and china whatsoever to be by her taken had and received to and for her proper use and benefit and to dispose of as she shall think proper
Also I give and bequeath unto my said wife Mary King the sum of three hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto her to and for her own proper use and benefit by my executor herein after named within three months next after my decease.

Also I give devise and bequeath my leasehold messuage wherein I now dwell and the use interest and benefit of all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever unto my said wife Mary King for and during the term of her natural life
and after her decease I give unto my niece Sarah Ladd the sum of fifty pounds of like lawful money to be paid unto her to and for her own proper use and benefit by my Executor herein after named within three months next after the decease of my said wife.

Also after the decease of my said wife I give and bequeath my nephew William King son of my late decease brother William King the sum of fifty pounds
and unto my niece Margaret Farar the sum of twenty five pounds of like lawful money to be paid unto them respectively at their respective ages of twenty one years.

Also after the decease of my said late wife I give devise and bequeath my said leasehold messuage wherein I now dwell together with the lease thereof and all my estate right title and interest therein and also all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever not herein before otherwise given or bequeathed unto my loving brother Thomas King of Dover aforesaid Shipwright whom I make nominate and appoint sole executor of this my last will and testament his executors administrators and assigns to and for his and their own proper use and benefit

provided always and my mind and will is and I do hereby order and direct that my said wife during her natural life and after her decease my said brother Thomas King his executors or administrators shall by and out of what I have herein before given them respectively maintain provide keep and furnish my brother Charles King with all necessaries whatsoever and permit and suffer him to reside and live with them respectively unless my said wife or brother Thomas King his executors or administrators shall agree with my said brother Charles King on terms for him to live apart from them respectively
and my will is that my said wife and brother Thomas King his executors or administrators shall not be so bound to provide for my said brother Charles King unless he shall permit them respectively to receive and take the interest and proceeds of his monies towards enabling them thereto

and I do hereby revoke and make void all former wills and testaments by me made and I do hereby publish and declare this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I the said John King the testator to each sheet of this my last will and testament in two sheets of paper contained have set my hand and seal the twentieth day of April in the fourteenth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy four Jn King Signed sealed published and declared by the said john King the testator to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who subscribed our names as witnesses herein to in the presence and at the request of the said testator

This will was proved at London the twenty second day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy five before the Right Worshipful Sir George Kay Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Thomas King the sole executor named in the said will to whom administration of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the deceased was granted having been first sworn by commission duly to administer.
