This is the last Will and Testament of me Elizabeth Knifton of the City of Canterbury Widow being of sound mind memory and understanding praised be God for the same made this tenth day of February in the Year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirteen in manner and form following that is to say
First I recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator and my body I commit to the Earth to be decently Interred at the discretion of my Executors and I do direct that my Interment may not take place until the Eighth day after my decease and as to my Worldly Estate I give and dispose thereof as follows Viz

I give unto my Nephew William Hobday my Watch
I give unto my Nephew Ellis Hobday his Brother my ring
and I give unto my Niece Caroline Vincent Wife of Thomas Vincent my Silver Milk Pot
also I give unto them the said William Hobday Ellis Hobday Caroline Vincent and Barbara Knifton all my wearing apparel of all sorts equally between them share and share alike
all which legacies I direct to be delivered by my Executors as soon as conveniently can be after my decease

As to all the rest residue and remainder of my Goods Household Goods and Furniture Plate Linen and China money Securities for Monies Money in the Public Stocks or Funds of this Kingdom or upon private or other securities and all other my Goods Chattles and Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever the same shall be and consist of at the time of my decease after and subject to the payment of all my Just Debts Funeral Charges the Charges of Proving and Executing this my Will and all other Incident Charges and expences I give and bequeath the same as followeth that is to say

one Moiety or half part thereof unto my Nephews the said William Hobday and Ellis Hobday equally between them share and share alike and unto their respective Executors and Admors but if either of them shall die before me and without having issue of his body lawfully begotten then his share to go and descend to the Survivor to whom in that event I give the same accordingly

and the other and remaining moiety or half part thereof I give and bequeath unto the said Caroline Vincent and Barbara Knifton equally to be divided between them share and share alike and unto their respective Executors and Admors but if either of them shall die before me and without having issue of her body lawfully begotten then her share to go and descend to the Survivor to whom in that event I give the same accordingly anything hereinbefore contained to the contrary notwithstanding

and I do hereby make and appoint my Niece the said Caroline Vincent and Mr Thomas Tilbe of Ixely (?) Cross Westgate without the Walls of the said City of Canterbury Grocer and Tallow Chandler the Executors of this my last Will and Testament and do hereby direct that my said Executors shall pay and reimburse herself and himself all reasonable Expences that they may be at and put unto in the Execution of this my Will and shall only be responsible for such Monies or things as come to their respective hands and not the one for the other or for the acts deeds receipts or disbursements the one for the other but each for herself and himself and for his or her own acts deeds receipts or disbursements only

and I do hereby revoke all former Wills by me made and declare this only to be my last Will & Testament
In Witness whereof I the said Elizabeth Knifton have to this my last Will & Testament contained in this and the two preceding sides of one sheet of paper set my hand and Seal the day and Year first above written Elizth Knifton
