Nicholas Ladd yeoman of Elham, made the 8th December 1558 (in the 1st yr of R of E:R I)
To be buried in the churchyard of Elham beside my anncestors
Item I will to be don for me at my burying dirge And thre masses and somuche att my monethes mynd and a sinurche? At my twelvemonths mynde
Also I will that my executors shall geve to the poore at my burying XX s
at my monethes mynde XXs and at my twelvemonthes mynde other XX s
as for other doynges toucerninge meate and drinke to be geven I put it to her discretion

I bequeath to Edmond Franncies my Bunte sixe ewes
Bequeath to William Frannces my Bunte sixe ewes

Also I bequeath to Margaret Frannces my Bunte iiij or ewes
I bequeath to David My sheppard sixe ewes
I bequeath to everie one of my godchildren a weaning lambe so that they aske and require it

I bequeath to one of my maide Serevtes a pair of sheepes

Item I bequeath to Thomas Ladd my brother Stevens sonne a fetherbedl a cubburd tables forms Ceestill and other implementes of howsegoed at the discretion of Robert Ladd his brother

I bequeath to Nicholas Frannces my S’vant a seame of maulte and one other of barlie
Item I bequeath to Franncies Medcalf halfe a quarter of wheate and a ?sunche of maulte
Item I geve to father Xpilcher a busshell of wheate and one other of maulte
Item I bequeath to Thomas Ewstace ij bz of wheate and a ?sunche of maulte
Item I bequeath to Martha Meede my wifes daughter tenne ewes and tenne lambes

Item I bequeath to my cozen Thomas Ladd of Stretisfeld twentie ewes
Item I bequeath to William Ewfelde of Alkeham a couple of steeres and XX ewes

The residue of all my goodes unbequethed my debtes paid I give holie to Annye my wife Whom I make sole executrixe of this my laste will
& I ordeyne Vincent Nethersoole my cosen Oversear of this my laste will and to him for his paynes X ls

This is the laste wille of me the saide Nicholas Ladd aforesaid Made the date and yere above written concerning all my free= Hold lands and tenements which I have in the parishes of Elham and Lymnnynge or ells where in the countie of Kente

First I will that Annye my wife shall have all my lands and tenements ....repeid and the profits therof during her Natural life so [long as] she kepe howse well repaired and payethe Lordes rente and shall nether streepe ne waste, but onelie fell tymber for the repacons of the howses that I dwell in and for the buyldinge of the howses whiche I bought of William Wapoll taking also fewell oneliefor her owne occuoyinge so longe as she is widowe

saving and excepte on?o of the foreseide lands tenne acres of lande lyinge in the parishe of Lymnninge in northe Yoke whiche tenne acres of landee I geve in fee symople to Robert Ladd my brother Stevens sonne

and after the death of Annye my wife I geve and bequeath to the seid Robert ladd my brother Stevens sonne my place that I dwell in with all my lands lyinge on the Easte side of the water in the pariahse of Elham and lymnninge as the plaes and hedges devides which .... ...........
