In the Name of God Amen I John Lake of Scots Hall in the Parish of Smeeth in the County of Kent Graisier being in perfect Health Sound Mind Memory and Understanding (thanks be to Almighty God therefore) do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)
First and Principally I yeild up my Soul to Almighty God my Creator through the merits of Jesus Christ my blessed Savior and Redeemer and my body to be buried in Christian burial at the discretion of my Executrixes herein after mentioned with as little expence as may be

Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my eldest Son Robert Lake One Shilling
Item I give and bequeath unto my second Son Thomas Lake and unto my third Son Richard Lake One shilling each to be paid by my Executrixes herein after named

Item all the rest of my goods, Chattels and whatever else belongs of what nature and kind soever my Just Debts Funeral Expences and all other incident charges being first fully paid and satisfied I give and bequeath to be equally divided between my three daughters Katherine Lake, Anna Lake and Hannah Lake except my Plate which I desire my six Children may divide as equally as the can

Item I make and ordain my said three daughters Katherine Lake, Anna Lake and Hannah Lake Joint Executrixes of and to this my last Will and Testament and hereby revoking all former Wills by me made,

to this my last Will and Testament have set my hand and Seal this fourteenth day of August in the eighteenth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the second by the grace of God of Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the faith and in the year of our Lord Christ 1744

The before registered Will of John Lake deceased was proved the 20th day of November 1751 before the Revd. William Grundy? Clerk, Surrogate to the Worshipful George Raul, Doctor of Laws, Commissary General of the City and Diocese of Canterbury, lawfully constituted by the Oath of Katherine Lake One of the Executrixes herein named she being first sworn duly to perform the same Power being reserved to the other Executrixes, etc.
