In the name of God Amen uppon the three and twentieth daie of March in the Tenth yeare of his now Majesties Reigne Annoq Dini 1697
I George Longe of Ramsgate in the p[ar]ish of St. Lawrence in the Isle of Thanett and County of Kent Mariner being well in Body and of good and perfect Sense and memory (God be praised) doe make and ordeyne this my Last Will and Testament in manner and forme Followinge (That is to saie)

First I give and devise to Elizabeth my Lovinge wife for and duringe the Terme of her Naturall Life, the better to Enable her to bringe upp my Children All that my Sixth p[ar]te of and in All that Farme comonly called and knowne by the name of Aldey? Farme with all the Lands Arable, Pasture and Woodland and all other the Appurten[an]ces thereunto belonginge and apperteyning Scituate and beinge in the p[ar]ish of Minster in the Isle aforesd. now in the occupacon of William Fuller
Alsoe after the decease of my said wife I give and devise the said Sixth pte of the said Farme Lands and Appurtencs unto my twoe sonnes George Longe and Isaac Longe theire heires and Assignes for ever Equally to bee devided betweene them

Alsoe I give and devise to my sonne Wheeler Longe his heires and Assignes for ever All my Moytie or halfe pte of my Winde Mill, Land and Appurtences thereunto belonginge Scituate and beinge in Ramsgate aforesaid now in the occupacon of Michael Hoboord
Provided my will and minde is that Elisabeth my wife shall have and enjoye and take and receive the Rents Issues and profitts of my said halfe pte of the said Windmill untill my youngest child shall Attaine the Age of Eighteene yeares for and toward the Education and bringing upp of all my Children

Alsoe I give to my daughter Susannah her heires and Assignes for ever All that my Messuage of Tenement and Appurtences Scituate in Ramsgate aforesaid now in the occupacon of John Baker
Alsoe I give to my daughter Susannah Fifty pounds of Lawfull English money to bee paid to her uppon the daye of her Marriage

Alsoe I give to my sonne Wheeler Longe Fifty pounds of Lawfull English money to bee paid at his Age of one and twenty yeares
Alseo I give to my daughter Elizabeth Longe one hundred pounds of Lawfull English money to bee paid at her Age of Nyneteene yeares or daie of Marriage which shall first happen
Alsoe I give to my sonne John Longe ten pounds of Lawfull English money to bee paid at his Age of one and twenty yeares
Alsoe I give to my sonne Richard Longe one hundred pounds of Lawfull English money to bee paid at his Age of one and twenty yeares
Alsoe I give my sonne Alexander Longe one hundred pounds of Lawfull English money to bee paid at his Age of one and twenty yeares

Alsoe I give to the poore people of the liberty of Ramsgate Five pounds of Lawfull English money to bee distributed amongst them at the discretion of the Deputy Churchwarden and Overseers of the poore of Ramsgate
Alsoe I make and ordeyne my said Lovinge wife Elizabeth Sole Executrix of this my Last will and Testament

Alsoe I make and appoint my Loving brother Alexander Longe and my Lovinge Cousin George Hooper overseers of this my said Last Will and Testament and I doe desire them to assist my said wife in all matters and thinges relating to the Execution and due performance of this my Last Will and I give to each of them one Guynea to buy them a Ringe

Alsoe all the rest of my goods and Chattells whatsoever I give and bequeath to Elizabeth my said Lovinge wife the better Enable her to mainteyne, Educate and bring upp all my said Children untill they come to receive theire severall legacies before menconed and my will is that my said Executrix doe Mainteyne, Educate and provide for all my said Children untill they come to receive theire said Legacies without any Allowance for the same

Probatum fuit: 22nd July 1699 - to Elizabetha Long.

Notes:
George Long, 24, Seaman of St. Larance of the eyle of Thannett and Elizabeth Wheeler, 21 of St. Clement, Sandwich, Kent were married 23 Dec 1677 at St. Clement.
They had eleven known children – all baptised at St. Lawrence: 5 Nov 1678 George; 5 Jul 1680 Susanna; 19 Jun 1682 Marcey (Bu.: 4 Jul 1682); 31 Aug 1683 Alexander (Bu.: 12 Nov 1683); 28 Jun 1690 Mercy (Bu.: 15 Oct 1690); 28 Oct 1684 John; 12 Jun 1687 Wheeler; 2 Jan 1688/89 Richard; 25 Sep 1690 Elizabeth; 26 Oct 1692 Alexander; 6 Oct 1696 Isaac.
