First I Give and Bequeath All those my two Tenements or Dwellinghouses and the Outhouses and Ground thereunto adjoining and belonging containing in the whole by Estimation Nine Perches and three Quarters of a Perch more or less with their and every of their Appurtenances Scituate lying and being in Lower Deal aforesaid and now or late in the Several Tenures or Occupation of myself and my Son in Law William Hornsby of Deal aforesaid Pilot or one of us our or one of our Assigns being Leasehold under John Dilnot Esquire, Lord of the Manor of Chamberlain And all the Estate, Right, Title, Interest and Term of Years which I now have or shall or may have therein at the Time of my decease and the Lease thereof which shalbe then Subsisting Unto my Son Thomas Long and to his Executors Administrators and Assigns
Upon special trust and confidence nevertheless in him and them reposed and to the Intent and Purpose that the said Thomas Long his Executors or Administrators shall and do at any Time within the space of Three Months to be Computed from the Day of my decease by good and sufficient Assignments and Assurances in the Law Assign and Convey all the said Leasehold Premises and all his and their Estate, Right, Title, Interest and Term of Years therein Unto my aforesaid Son in Law William Hornsby and to his Executors Administrators and Assigns for the Price or Sum of four hundred pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain in case my said Son in Law William Hornsby shall chuse [choose] to become the Purchaser of the said Leasehold Premises at that Sum and shall accordingly well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Thomas Long his Executors or Administrators the full and just Sum of four hundred Pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain as the Consideration or Purchase Money for the said Leasehold Premises
And in case the said William Hornsby shall refuse or neglect so to do within the Time before Limited for that purpose Then upon this further Trust That my said Son Thomas Long his Executors or Administrators shall and do immediately from and after the expiration of the said Three Months to be Computer as aforesaid sell and dispose of all my said Leasehold Premises altogether or in parcels for the best price that can be gotten for the same
And shall and do pay apply and dispose of the said Sum of four hundred pounds to be paid by my said Son in Law William Hornsby if he becomes the Purchaser of the said Leasehold Premises And in case of his neglect or refusal as aforesaid Then shall and do apply and dispose of the Money arising by such Sale or Sales thereof as I have in that Case before directed in manner hereinafter mentioned and expressed of and concerning the same
And I do expressly Will order and direct that the Receipt or Receipts of the said Thomas Long his Executors or Administrators shall be a full and absolute discharge to the said William Hornsby or such other Purchaser or Purchasers as aforesaid of the said Leasehold Estate for the purchase Money to be paid for the same And that after such Receipt or Receipts such Purchaser or Purchasers shall be in no wise Answerable for the Application of his her or their said Purchase Money or any part thereof
Also I Give and Bequeath my Wearing Apparel of all kinds unto my three Daughters (that is to say)
Esther the Wife of John Quested of the City of Canterbury, Cooper;
Mary the wife of the said William Hornsby
and Judith the Wife of Valentine Spaine of Deal aforesaid, Mariner
equally to be divided between them my said three Daughters Share and Share alike
And as to all the rest and residue of my Goods, Chattels, Effects, Debts due and owing to me, Money, Securities for Money and Personal Estate whatsoever and of what kind or Nature soever the same may be at the Time of my decease I Give and Bequeath the same and every part thereof Unto my aforesaid Son Thomas Long his Executors and Administrators Upon trust as soon as conveniently may be after my decease to sell and dispose of collect get in and convert into ready Money All my said residuary Personal Estate
And my further Mind and Will is that my said Son Thomas Long his Executors or Administrators shall and do by and out of the said Sum of four hundred Pounds to be paid by the said William Hornsby as the Purchase Money of my said Leasehold Estate if he becomes the Purchaser thereof And in case of his Neglect or Refusal as aforesaid then by and out of the Monies to arise by such Sale or Sales as I have in that case before directed to be made of my said Leasehold Estate and the Rents and Profits thereof till such Sale or Sales shall be made and by and out of the Produce of my said Residuary Personal Estate in the first place pay and satisfy All my said Just Debts funeral Expences and the Costs and charges of Proving and Executing this my Will and the Trusts Created by it And also the several Legacies or Sums of Money following (that is to say)
Unto himself the said Thomas Long the Sum of Fifty Pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain And also the further Sum of Twenty Pounds for his Care
and trouble in the Execution of the Trusts hereby in him reposed
Unto my aforesaid two Daughters Mary Hornsby and Judith Spaine the Sum of Fifty Pounds apiece of like lawful Money
And unto my Grandson Henry Hooper the Sum of Thirty Pounds of like lawful Money
And as to all the rest and residue of the Money arising from such Sale or Sales as aforesaid of my said Leasehold Estates And the Rents and Profits thereof till such Sale or Sales shall be made And by the Produce of my said Residuary Personal Estate after such Payments thereout as aforesaid My Mind and will is that the same shall go and be paid And I do accordingly Give and Bequeath the same unto my aforesaid four Children Thomas Long, Esther Quested, Mary Hornsby and Judith Spaine equally to be divided between them share and share alike
And I make constitute and appoint my aforesaid Son Thomas Long full and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament
And do declare my Mind and Will to be that my said Trustee and Executor his Executors or Administrators shall be indemnified and saved harmless by
and out of the said Trust Estates for what he or they shall do in the Execution of this my Will and the Trusts hereby in him and the
reposed And that he and they shall be paid and satisfied in the first place all such Costs and Expences as he or they shall be put unto in the
Execution thereof and shall be Accountable for such Money only as he or they shall actually receive and no more and not for any loss that may happen
without his or their Default
And Lastly I revoke all former Wills by me made
In Witness whereof I the said Esther Long the Testatrix have to this my last Will and Testament contained in three Sheets of Paper affixed together,
to the Two first Sheets thereof Set my Hand and to this Third and last Sheet thereof my Hand and Seal the Seventh Day of December in the year of our

The before Registered Will of Esther Long deceased was proved the Fifth Day of May 1785 before the Reverend Joshua Dix, Clerk, Surrogate to the Worshipful Andrew Coltee Duracel, Doctor of Laws, Commissary General of the City and Diocese of Canterbury, lawfully constituted by the Oath of Thomas Long the sole Executor named in the said Will He being first Sworn well and truly to Perform the same
