This is the last Will and Testament of me Andrew Long of the Town and Borough of Deal in the County of Kent Yeoman made this twenty second day of August in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine

First I Give and Devise all my Freehold Messuage or Tenement with the outhouses Edifices Buildings and Land thereunto belonging and therewith and letten occupied or enjoyed containing together in the whole by estimation One acre and One Perch more or less with the Appurtenances situate lying and being in Deal aforesaid and now in my own occupation and all other my Freehold Estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto my well beloved Wife Ann Long and her Assigns for and during the Term of her natural Life She keeping the Buildings thereof in good and tenantable repair

And from and immediately after her decease I Give and Devise all my said Freehold Messuage or Tenement Land Hereditaments and Premises unto my two Sons Joseph Iggulden Long and William Long and their Heirs Upon Special Trust and Confidence nevertheless in them reposed and to the Ends Intents and purposes following (that is to say)

Upon trust that they the said Joseph Iggulden Long and William Long and the Survivor of them and his Heirs shall and do with all convenient speed after the decease of my said Wife sell convey or otherwise dispose of the same Premises either altogether or in Parcels by Public Auction or Private Contract to any Person or Persons willing to become Purchaser or Purchasers thereof for such price or prices or Sum or Sums of Money as to the said Joseph Iggulden Long and William Long or the Survivor of them or his Heirs shall seem proper

And for Promoting and facilitating such Sale or Sales my Will and meaning is and I do hereby order direct and declare that the Purchaser or Purchasers thereof shall not be concerned to see the Purchase Money with him her or them respectively contracted for Paid and applied according to the directions of this my Will but that the Receipt or Receipts of my said Trustees or the Survivor of them of his Heirs shall effectually discharge the respective purchaser or purchasers and his her or their Heirs Executors and Administrators for so much Money as in such Receipt or Receipts shall be acknowledged or expressed to be received
And that after such Receipt or Receipts the Purchaser or Purchasers his her or their Heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns shall not be obliged to see to the Monies by them paid respectively applied in {Compliance with?} of this my Will or be answerable or accountable for any Loss misapplication or nonapplication of such Purchasers Money or any Part thereof

And as to all and singular my Goods Chattels Effects Debts due and owing to me Money Securities for Money Money in any of the Public Stocks or Funds of this Kingdom and all other my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what kind or nature soever the same may be at the time of my decease (from and after the Payment of all my just Debts Funeral Expences and the Charges of Proving and executing this my Will) I Give and Bequeath the reasonable use and wear and the dividends Interest and annual Profits (but not the absolute Property thereof) unto my said Wife Anne Long for and during the Term of her natural Life

And as to all and every the Sum or Sums of Money to arise by the Sale or Sales or other disposition of my said Freehold Estate and the Rents Issues Dividends Interest and annual Profits thereof from and after the decease of my said Wife until the same shall be sold as aforesaid

And from and immediately after the decease of my said Wife as to the sole and absolute Property of my said Personal Estate I Give and Bequeath the same and every part thereof unto and equally between and amongst my Eight Children
the said Joseph Iggulden Long, William Long, Bayley Long,
Mary the Wife of Shadrack White of Deal aforesaid Victualler,
Ann Bayley the Wife of William Marsh of Deal aforesaid Mariner;
Elizabeth the Wife of John Mockitt of Deal aforesaid Mariner;
Sarah the Wife of John Parker of Deal aforesaid Cabinet Maker and Jane Long

share and share alike and to their several and respective uses and benefits

And I make constitute and appoint my said two Sons Joseph Iggulden Long and William Long Executors of this my last Will and Testament

And my Will is That my said Trustees and Executors or either of them their or either if their Heirs Executors or Administrators shall not be charged or chargeable with or accountable for any more of the said Trust Estate Monies and Premises than they respectively shall actually receive or shall come to ther respective hands by virtue of thus my Will nor with or for any Loss which shall happen of the same Monies or any Part thereof so as such Loss happen without their wilful default nor the one of them for the other of them or for the Acts Deeds Receipts disbursements or defaults of the other of them but each of them for his own Acts Deeds Receipts Disbursements or Defaults only

And Also that it shall and may be lawful to and for my sad Trustees and Executors and each of them their and each of their Heirs Executors and Administrators in the first place by and out of the said Trusts Estates Monies and Premises to Deduct and reimburse to themselves respectively all such Losses Costs Charges and Damages as their or any or either of them shall respectively expend or be put unto suffer or sustain for or by reason of the Trusts hereby in them reposed or the management and execution thereto or any other thing in any wise relating thereto
And Lastly I Revoke all former Wills by me made

In Witness whereof I the said Andrew Long the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained in three Sheets of Paper annexed together to the first Two sheets thereof set my Hand and to this third and last Sheet thereof my hand and Seal the Day and Year first aforesaid

Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the said Andrew Long the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our Names as Witnesses in his Presence at his request and in the Presence of each other

The before registered Will of Andrew Long deceased was proved the Tenth day of March 1810 before the Reverend John Francis, Clerk, Surrogate to the Right Honorable Sir William Scott, Knight, Doctor of Laws, Commissary General of the City and Diocese of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oaths of Joseph Iggulden Long and William Long, the Sons and Executors named in the said Will They being first sworn well and truly to perform the same.

Andrew Long of this Parish (otp), Bachelor and Anne Bayley, otp., Spinster & Minor were married in this Church by Licence with Consent of Mary Foreman her Mother on this thirty first day of May 1757 by me John James, Rector.
