I direct all my just debts funeral and testamentary expences to be fully paid and satisfied
I give and bequeath to my Wife Sarah Lucas all and singular my Furniture household Linen and
Chinas for her use during the Term of her natural life
I give and bequeath all the Rest and Residue of my Personal Estate and Effects whatsoever which I shall be possessed of or entitled to unto my said Wife and Nicholas Darlington Kent of Clifford Inn in the City of London Gentleman Upon Trust to convert such part thereof (if any) as may be Saleable into money and to invest such residue and the money arising therefrom in the purchase of Parliamentary or Government Stocks or securities and to permit my said Wife to receive the Interest and dividends thereof for her own use during the term of her natural life and from
and after the decease of my said Wife I give and bequeath one third part of such furniture household
Linen China Stock and Securities to my Daughter Elizabeth Ward if she shall be then living but if
dead unto and amongst all her Children in equal shares and proportions
And after the decease of my said Wife I give and bequeath the remaining two thirds of such furniture
household Linen China Stock and Securities unto Sarah Jenkins Henry Jenkins and Hannah
Jenkins Children of my present Wife or such of them as shall be living at her decease in such shares
and proportions as she may by her last Will and Testament in writing duly to be executed and
attested in the presence of two or more credible witnesses direct and appoint
And for want of such direction or appointment or so far as the same may be incomplete I give and bequeath such remaining
two thirds unto my said Wife’s said Children in equal shares and proportions But if any or either of
them be then dead leaving a Child or Children who shall be then living such Child or Children to take
such share as his her or their respective parent or parents would have taken if living
And I do hereby direct that in case any or either of the Legatees under this my Will being females shall at any time or times be under Coverture that the Legacy or Legacies hereby intended for or given to such Legatee or Legatees shall not be liable to the debts controul or engagements of her or their respective husband or husbands but shall be paid into her or their own hands for her or their sole use and that the receipts of such Legatee or Legatees shall be sufficient discharges for so much money as shall be thereby acknowledged to be received
and I do hereby appoint my said Wife Sarah Lucas and the said Nicholas Darlington Kent Executrix and Executor of this my last Will and Testament and my Will is and I do hereby declare that my said Executrix and Executor and each of them their and each of their Executors and admors. [administrators] respectively shall and may from time to time deduct and retain by and out of the money which by virtue of this my Will or any of the Trusts hereinbefore declared shall come to their hands all charges expences losses and damages whatsoever which they or either of them shall expend be put unto or sustain in or about the execution or performance of all or any of the Trusts of this my Will and that they my said Executrix and Executor and each of them their and each of their Executors and admors. respectively shall be charged and chargeable only for his (or her) own receipts payments acts and wilful defaults and shall not be charged or chargeable with or for any Sum or Sums of money other than such as shall actually come to her his or their own hands respectively by virtue of this my Will nor with any loss or damage which may happen in or about the management or execution of the Trusts hereby in them respectively reposed without their respective wilful defaults]
And Lastly I do hereby revoke all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made
In Witness whereof I the said Bartholomew Lucas have to this my last Will and Testament set my
hand and seal this twenty second day of September one thousand Eight hundred and nineteen

Proved at London 13th February 1824 before the Worshipful John Danbury Dr. of Laws and
Surrogate by the Oath of Sarah Lucas Widow the Relict one of the Executors to whom admon.
was granted being first sworn duly to administer.
Power reserved to Nichols Darlington Kent the other Executor (of making the like grant).
