This is the Last Will and Testament of me Thomas Martin of East Peckham in the County of Kent Yeoman made and declared the Nineteenth day of October in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty nine

First I Give and Devise all that my Messuage or Tenement now Divided into two Dwellings with the Barns, Stables, Outhouses, Edifices, Buildings, Yards, Backsides, Gardens, Orchards, Closes and Several Pieces or Parcels of Land and all and Singular the Lands Arable, Meadow and Pasture with the Appurt[enance]s thereunto belonging or Appertaining Containing by Estimation Twenty Acres be the same more or less Commonly called or known by the name or names of “Souters” and “Redbourne” or howsoever otherwise called or known Situate lying and being in the Parish of East Peckham aforesaid and now or late in the Several Tenures or Occupations of Joseph Mascall, James Rogers and me the said Thomas Martin the Testator
And all those my Four pieces or parcels of Land Containing together by Estimation Eight Acres be the same more or less Situate, lying and being in the Parish of East Peckham aforesaid and now in my own Tenure and Possession and which I purchased to me and my Heirs of Sir William Twysden Baronet
And also all that my Peice or Parcell of Land commonly called or known by the name of “Booth mead” or “howsenden” otherwise called or known containing by Estimation Four Acres be the same more or less with the Appurt[enance]s Situate, lying and being in the Parish of Hadlow in the said County here in the Tenure or Occupation of Thomas Kipping devised and now of Henry Cheesman his Assigns or undertenants unto my Son William Martin his Heirs and Assigns for ever

Also I Give and bequeath unto my Son John Martin the Sum of Three hundred pounds of Good and lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid to him within twelve months next after my Decease by my Executor hereinafter named
Also I Give and bequeath unto my said Son William Martin the Sum of Four hundred and fifty pounds of like lawful Money to be paid to him within twelve Months next after my Decease by my Executor hereinafter named
Also I Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Martin the Sum of Seven hundred pounds of like lawful Money to be paid to her within twelve Months next after my Decease by my Executor hereinafter named

Also I Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah the Wife of John Carnell the Sum of Three hundred pounds of like lawful Money to be paid to her within twelve Months next after my Decease by my Executor hereinafter named, I having already given her four hundred pounds on her Marriage with the said John Carnell
Also I Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Ann the Wife of Richard Children the Sum of Three hundred pounds of like Money to be paid to her within twelve months next after my Decease by my Executor hereinafter named, I having already Given her Four hundred pounds on her Marriage with the said Richard Children

Also I Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary the Wife of Stephen Chilman the Sum of Three hundred pounds of like Money to be paid to her within twelve months next after my Decease by my Executor hereinafter named, I having already Given her Four hundred pounds on her Marriage with the said Stephen Chilman
Also I Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Jane the Wife of Thomas Matthews the Sum of Three hundred pounds of like Money to be paid to her within twelve months next after my Decease by my Executor hereinafter named, I having already Given her Four hundred pounds on her Marriage with the said Thomas Matthews

Also I Give and Devise all and every other my Manors, Messuages, Lands, Tenements and Heredit[amen]ts and parts and shares of Manors, Messuages, Lands, Tenements and Heredit[amen]ts and real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever not hereinbefore Disposed of with their and every of their rights, members and Appurt[enance]s unto my Son Thomas Martin and to his Heirs and Assigns forever

Also I Give and bequeath all the rest and residue of my ready Money, Debts, Goods, Chattels and Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever not hereinbefore Disposed off, my Debts, Legacys and Funeral Expences and the Charges of Proving this my Will and all other Incident Charges being first paid and Satisfied unto my said Son Thomas Martin, whom I do hereby make and Ordain the full and Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament
And Lastly I do hereby revoke and make void all former Wills by me formerly made

In Witness whereof I the said Thomas Martin the Testator to this my last Will and Testament contained in two Sheets of paper to each Sheet thereof set my hand and Seal the Day and year in the first Sheet first mentioned

Signed, Sealed, Published and Declared by the said Thomas Martin the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who Subscribed our names as Witnesses to the same in the Presence of the said Testator and of each other

This Will was proved at London the Twentieth day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Seventy before the Right Worshipful George Hay Doctor of Laws, Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, lawfully Constituted by the Oath of Thomas Martin the Son of the deceased and Sole Executor named in the said Will to whom Administration was Granted of all and Singular the Goods, Chatells and Credits of the said deceased, he having been first sworn by Commission duly to Administer.

Notes:
John Carnell, Bachelor of Sevenoaks in Kent and Sarah Martin, Spinster, o.t.p., were married on eighteenth February 1760 at St. Michael, East Peckham, Kent by Licence. Witnesses were: Henry Cheesman, Thomas Martin.
Richard Children, Bachelor of Tunbridge married Anne Martin, Spinster of [East] Peckham by Licence on 2nd October 1769 at SS Peter & Paul, Tonbridge, Kent. Witnesses were: Will : Scoones, Henry Ashdowne.
Stephen Chilman, Bachelor of Wootham [Wrotham], Kent and Mary Martin, Spinster, o.t.p., were married by Licence on 8th August 1762 at St. Michael, East Peckham. Witnesses were: John Carnell and Ann Martin.
Thomas Matthews, Bachelor of Seal, Kent and Jane Martin, Spinster, o.t.p., were married on 11th November 1765 by Licence at St. Michael, East Peckham. Witnesses were: Stephen Chilman, John Dartnell.
