This is the last Will and Testament of me George Marten of East Farleigh in the County of Kent Yeoman
I Will and direct that all my just debts funeral Expences and the Charges of proving this my Will and all other incidental Charges and Expences be first duly paid and satisfied by and out of my Personal Estate and after payment and satisfaction thereof I give and dispose thereof as follows (that is to say)

As to all and every my Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever both real and personal and of what nature or kind soever and whether in possession remainder or expectancy I give devise and bequeath the same and every part and parcel thereof unto my Sister Ann Marten of East Farleigh aforesaid Spinster for and during the term of her natural life
subject nevertheless to and charged and chargeable with the payment of two several yearly sums of twenty pounds apiece to my two nieces Mary Bowling and Mary Marten during the life of her my said Sister Ann Marten Provided they so long continue to live in her Service but not otherwise and which said two several Sums of twenty pounds apiece to my said two Nieces Mary Bowling and Mary Marten I do hereby give and bequeath to them accordingly
And I do hereby order and direct that the same be paid to them by equal and even half yearly payments the first half yearly payment thereof to made at the expiration of one half year from the time of my decease

and from and immediately after the decease of my said Sister Ann Marten I give and dispose as follows (that is to say)
I give and devise all and singular my messuages or tenements and hereditaments and parts or shares of messuages or tenements, lands ad hereditaments and real Estate whatsoever whether in possession, reversion, remainder or expectancy and wheresoever situated unto my nephew Lawrence Starnes of Yalding in the County of Kent farmer to hold the same unto and to the use of the said Lawrence Starnes his heirs and assigns for ever

Also I give and devise all that my moiety or half part of and in all that my Copyhold messuage tenement or shop numbered sixty and situate lying and being in Holywell Street, Shoreditch, London unto and equally between my nephews and nieces Nicholas Marten, Thomas Marten, Miller Marten, John Marten, Mary Ellis and Mercy Nucum To hold to them the said Nicholas Marten, Thomas Marten, Miller Marten, John Marten, Mary Ellis and Mercy Nucum their heirs and assigns for ever in equal Shares and proportions as tenants in Common and not as joint tenants

I give and forgive unto my nephew Nicholas Marten of Marden in the said County of Kent Husbandman all monies due and owing from him to me at the time of my decease
Also I give and bequeath unto my nephew Miller Marten of Yalding aforesaid Husbandman the Sum of one hundred and fifty pounds five pounds per Centum Consolidated Bank Annuities to be paid or transferred to him by my Executors hereinafter named within twelve Calendar months next after the decease of my said Sister Ann Marten
Also I give and bequeath unto my nephew John Marten of Lamberhurst in the said County of Kent Husbandman the like sum of one hundred and fifty pounds five pounds per Centum Consolidated Bank Annuities to be paid or transferred to him by my Executors hereinafter named within twelve Calendar months next after the decease of my said Sister Ann Marten
Also I give and bequeath unto my nephew Thomas Marten or Marden aforesaid Husbandman the like sum of one hundred and fifty pounds five pounds per Centum Consolidated Bank Annuities to be paid or transferred to him by my Executors hereinafter named within twelve Calendar months next after the decease of my said Sister Ann Marten
Also I give and bequeath unto my said nephew Thomas Marten all my working Implements of every sort and kind

Also I give and bequeath unto my niece Mary Ellis Wife of ______ Ellis of _______ in the City of London Tailor the like Sum of one hundred and fifty pounds five pounds per Centum Consolidated Bank Annuities to be paid or transferred to her by my Executors hereinafter named within twelve Calendar months next after the decease of my said Sister Ann Marten
Also I give and bequeath unto my niece Mercy Nucum Wife of William Nucum of ______ in the City of London Writer the like Sum of one hundred and fifty pounds five pounds per Centum Consolidated Bank Annuities to be paid or transferred to her by my Executors hereinafter named within twelve Calendar months next after the decease of my said Sister Ann Marten

Also I give and bequeath unto Thomas Aylen Marten the Sum of thirty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to him by my Executors within twelve Calendar months next after the decease of my said Sister Ann Marten
Also I give and bequeath unto Philip Robins Marten of Yalding aforesaid the Sum of One hundred pounds four pounds per Centum Consolidated bank annuities to be paid or transferred to him by my Executors hereinafter named within twelve Calendar months next after the decease of my said Sister Ann Marten
Also I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth the Wife of John Poris? of Yalding aforesaid Surgeon the like Sum of One hundred pounds four pounds per Centum Consolidated bank annuities to be paid or transferred to her by my Executors hereinafter named within twelve Calendar months next after the decease of my said Sister Ann Marten

Also I give and bequeath unto my nephew Richard Starnes of Etham [Eltham] in the said County of Kent farmer the Sum of One hundred pounds five pounds per Centum Consolidated bank annuities to be paid or transferred to him by my Executors hereinafter named within twelve Calendar months next after the decease of my said Sister Ann Marten
Also I give and bequeath unto my nephew James Starnes of Yalding in the said County of Kent farmer the Sum of ten pounds of lawful money of Great Britain for mourning to him by my Executors hereinafter named within one Calendar month of the time of my decease

Also I give and bequeath unto Mary Marten daughter of the said Thomas Marten the Sum of one hundred pounds three pounds per Centum South Sea Stock to be paid to her by my Executors hereinafter named within twelve Calendar months next after the decease of said Sister Ann Marten
I likewise give and bequeath unto the said Mary Marten the Sum of fifty pounds five pounds per Centum Consolidated Bank annuities to be also paid to her by my Executors hereinafter named within twelve Calendar months next after the decease of said Sister Ann Marten
I likewise give and bequeath unto her the said Mary Marten the Sum of five pounds of lawful money of Great Britain for mourning to be paid to her by my Executors hereinafter named within one Calendar month of the time of my decease

Also I give and bequeath unto Martha Bowling of Chart next Sutton Valence in the said County of Kent the Sum of five pounds of lawful money of Great Britain for mourning to be paid to her by my Executors hereinafter named within one Calendar month of the time of my decease
Also I give and bequeath unto the said Mary Bowling daughter of the said Martha Bowling the Sum of five pounds of lawful money of Great Britain for mourning to be paid to her by my Executors hereinafter named within one Calendar month of the time of my decease
Also I give and bequeath unto the said Mary Bowling the Sum of One hundred pounds three pounds per Centum South Sea Stock to be paid or transferred to her by my Executors hereinafter named within twelve Calendar months next after the decease of my said Sister Ann Marten
I likewise given and bequeath unto the said Mary Bowling the Sum of One hundred pounds five pounds per Centum Consolidated bank annuities the same to be also paid or transferred to her by my Executors hereinafter named within twelve Calendar months next after the decease of my said Sister Ann Marten

And as to all and every my linen, china, plate, household goods and furniture I give and bequeath the same and every part and parcel thereof unto and equally between my two Nieces the said Mary Bowling and Mary Marten to be equally divided between them share and share alike

And as to all the rest, residue and remainder of my ready monies, securities for money, chattels and personal Estate and Effects whatsoever I give and bequeath the same and every part and parcel thereof unto all and every the Children of my brother Thomas Martin to be equally divided between them share and share alike

And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said Lawrence Starnes and Richard Starnes joint Executors of this my Will and to whom I give and bequeath the Sum of ten pounds each for mourning

And my Will is and I do hereby expressly declare and direct that it shall and may be lawful for them my said executors and each of them their and each of their Executors and Administrators in the first place to deduct and reimburse themselves respectively out of the said Estates and Premises all such loss cost charges and expences as they he or any of them shall sustain expend or be put unto for or by reason of the performance of this my Will or the management or execution thereof respectively or any other thing in any wise relating thereunto

And Lastly I do hereby revoke and make void all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this only to be and contain my last Will and Testament
In Witness whereof I the said George Marten the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained in four sheets of Paper set my hand and seal (to wit) my hand at the bottom of the three first sheets hereof and my hand and seal to the fourth and last Sheet this eleventh day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred md twenty one

Proved at London 20th September 1824 before the Worshipful John Hanberry, Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the Oaths of Lawrence Starnes and Richard Starnes the nephews the Executors to whom Administration was granted having been first sworn duly to Administer
