In the name of God Amen the viijth daie of Februarie in the yere of or Lorde God a thowsand five hundreth Lxvj [1565/6] & in the eight yere of the raigne of oure souvraigne Ladie Queene Elizabeth
I John Masdaie of Asshe nexte Sandwiche in the Countye of Kent, beinge sicke in bodie, But of good and perfect remembrannce, thankes be to God, do make and declare this my present laste Will and Testamente in fowrme followinge
First and princypally I bequeath my soule to allmightie God, my Creator and Redeemer By the Merytes of whose passion I trust to be saved, and my bodie to be buryed in the Churche yarde of Asshe aforesaide

Item I bequeathe to the poore mens' Boxe a xijd and to everye of them that shall beare my bodie to the Churche a vjd a peece
Item I Bequeathe and give to John Masdaye my Eldest sonne my beste Cowe save one, foure Busshells of Barley

Item I give to Edmunde my sonne a Twelvemonthynge and vj Ewes And my wyef to keepe the same for them tyll Mychaelmas nexte And I give to the same Edmund foure busshells of Barlie
Item I will that my wief deliver to Mildred and Katherine my daugh[t]ers to either of them a Cowe, and foure busshells of Maulte at either of their Ages of xxjty [21] yeres or daies of there Marryages and those at their selection & choises

The residue of all my movable goods & cattalls, my debtts and Legacies contented and paide I give and Bequeath to Alice my Wief Whom I make my sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament
And I ordeine & make John Castle of Nonningeton and Robt. Adam of Asshe my overseers of the same

And further my will and minde is that if it fortune any of my two daughters to die before their saide Ages or marryages then I will the one to be the others heire

In wittnes Whereof I the saide John Masdaie to this presents have my hande sette Dated the daie and yere first abovew written in the presence of the parties underwritten
