In the name of God Amen I John Mason the Elder of Biddenden in the County of Kent Gardiner being sick & weak in body but of sound & perfect mind and memory (praised be God) do this first day of April in the second year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France & Ireland King Defender of the faith &c. & in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred twenty and nine make & ordain this my Last will & Testament in manner following
First & principally I Commend m soul to Almighty God who gave it & my body in hopes of A Joyfull resurrection through the Alone merrits death & passion of my blessed Redeemer Jesus Christ I Comit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named & as touching that small worldly estate wherewith the Lord in mercy hath been pleased to bless me I give and dispose thereof as followeth

Item I give & bequeath unto my Grandson Edward Mason all my wearing apparell whatsoever to be delivered to him by my Executrix as she shall think fit

Item I give & devise unto my Daughter Dinah Mason & to her heirs & Assigns for ever all that my messuage or Tenement wherein I now dwell together with the shop holden & all the apptences [appurtenances] to the sd. messuage or Tenement belonging or appertaining scituae lying & being in the aforesd. parish of Biddenden charged with the payment of all such debts as I shall Justly owe at the time of my decease if the same shall not be paid and discharged otherwise by my Executrix

Item I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said Daughter Dinah Mason sole Executrix of this my Last will & Testament & I give & bequeath unto her all my household Goods chattles & personal [e]state whatsoever she paying all my debts & funeral expences
And Lastly I do hereby revoke and make void all former wills by me made & declare this only to be my last will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the sd. John Mason have to this my Last will & Testament set my hand & seal dated the day & year Above written

Notes:
John Mason, Clerk and Sexton of All Saints, Biddenden, was buried there 26th April 1729.
John Mason of the parish of Biddenden & Elizabeth Andrews of Challock married May 11th 1679 at St. Lawrence, Godmersham, Kent.
Their seven children (all baptised at Biddenden):
Elizabeth 11 Mar 1680/81; John 21 Nov 1681; Edward 25 Dec 1683; Zebulon 7 Dec 1685 (Bu. 29 Apr 1689, ‘infant’); Nepthalim 2 Dec 1687 (Bu. 15 Oct 1698); Zebulon 14 Dec 1691; Dinah 15 Oct 1693 (Bu. 29 May 1739 – unmarried).
