I do give my loving Daughter MARGARET the Wife of Mr. JAMES HOUSEMAN seven hundred pounds
sterling to be paid in six months next after my decease
provided always and upon this condition that my said Son in Law Mr. JAMES HOUSEMAN and his said Wife my Daughter do and shall before the
end of the said six months and before the payment of the said seven hundred pounds or any part therof grant assigne release and
secure unto my Son NATHANIEL MATSON the Executor of this my last Will and to his Executors and
Assignes to his and their own use all their part and purport share Estate and Right Title Interest and Demand
which the said Mr. JAMES HOUSEMAN and MARGARET his Wife or either of them in Right of the said
MARGARET otherwise howsoever now have or ever had or could or might have or claim of in or to one
messuage or Copperas House or Works with all the Buildings Stock Implements ground and appurtenances
thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining situate lying and being in or near the Town and Parish of
Folkestone in the said County of Kent free and thereof all charges and incumbrances made or done by them or either of them.
And if the said JAMES HOUSEMAN and MARGARET his Wife shall refuse or deny so to do
and to perform the said Condition then I give to my said Daughter MARGARET the summe of four hundred
pounds sterling only and no more to be paid at the end of six months after my decease by Virtue of this my Will.
Item I do give to my Son HENRY MATSON five hundred pounds sterling to be paid within one year after my Decease.
And I do also give to him my said Son HENRY ten Shares being part of the Shares Right and
Interest which I have in the Royal and Copper Mines now or late vested in WILLIAM MOUNSON and
WILLIAM THOMPSON Esq. as Trustees for all the Parties interested or concerned therein or
whomsoever else the same are or shall be vested or settled.
Item I do give and bequeath unto my Grandson JAMES MATSON four hundred and fifty pounds sterling to
be paid to him with Interest at the Rate of four pounds per cent by the year at his age of five and twenty
years to be accounted from the time of my death or sooner if my Executor shall see good cause for it.
And if my said Grandson JAMES MATSON shall happen to dye before the time of payment of the said
Legacies so given to him then I do order and devise the same to be equally divided among my children that shall be living at his decease.
Item I do give to my Cousin ALICE SWEETLAND Widow five pounds.
To my maid ELIZABETH YOUNG ten pounds.
And to ROBERT ROOTS five pounds.
Also I do give to the Poor ten pounds to be distributed as my Executors shall think fitt.
And I do hereby order direct and appoint that the last Will of my late Daughter MARY MATSON deceased and the disposing and settling her Estate as I have done pursuant thereunto shall be approved ratified and confirmed by all my children and that they shall acquiesce and shall not act or do to the contrary nor make or raise any contest suite or variance in Law or otherwise about the same nor cause any dispute or difference to be had or moved in or touching the same. And if any of my said children or Legatees named in this my last Will act or do anything contrary to my said intent and direction then such of them so doing or acting shall forfeit and lose the benefit and advantage of this my Will and all and every Legacy and Bequests hereby given to him her or them.
Item I do give to my Son CHRISTOPHER MATSON fifty pounds sterling over and above what I have already given and disposed for but towards his benefit and use.
Item I do give and devise to my Loving Son NATHANIEL MATSON and to his Heirs Executors and Assignes
all and singular my other goods chattels ready money plate and Estate as well Reall and Personall
whatsoever and wheresoever hereby not before disposed of and faithfully performing all things in this my
last Will contained and incumbent upon him as Executor thereof according to my true Intent and Meaning and as by Law ought to be done.
And I do make and ordain him my said Son NATHANIEL MATSON Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament
Save I do give to my God Daughter MARY the Wife of Mr. THOMAS SLADDEN ten Broad Pieces of Gold to buy her a piece of Plate.
In Witness whereof I the said MARY MATSON have hereunto sett my hand and Seal the lst Day of
September in the year of Our Lord Christ 1712 MARY MATSON
Signed Sealed and declared by the said Testatrix as her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who
have subscribed our Names as Witnesses thereunto at the request and in the presence of the said Testatrix.
