In the Name of God Amen I ROBERT MATSON of the Parish of Ringwould in the County of Kent Labourer being of sound Mind and Memory (God be praised for the same) but considering the uncertainty of this mortal Life do therefore make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following
First I recommend my Soul unto Almighty God hoping through the Merits Death and Passion of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and Redeemer to receive forgiveness of all my Sins and to Inherit Everlasting life
My Body to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named
And as to my worldly Estate I dispose thereof as follows (that is to say)

Whereas I am possessed of or intitled unto forty shares in the Welsh Mines now I give and bequeath my said forty shares in the said Welsh Mines or any other Share or Shares that I am possessed of or intitled unto or which at any time or times hereafter I shall be possessed of or intitled unto together with all my Household Goods plate linen Ready Money Money at Interest and all and every other my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what Kind or Nature soever the same shall and be at the time of my decease unto my four Sons WILLIAM JOHN ROBERT and STEPHEN MATSON and unto my Sons in Law STEPHEN GIBBON and ANN his Wife and RICHARD CLEMENTS and MARY his Wife and to the Survivor of them and to the Executors Administrators and Assigns of such Survivor in Trust.

Nevertheless as to my said forty shares in the Welsh Mines which I am now possessed of or intitled unto or any other Share or Shares which at any time or times hereafter I shall be possessed of or intitled unto that they the said WILLIAM JOHN ROBERT and STEPHEN MATSON STEPHEN GIBBON and ANN his Wife and RICHARD CLEMENTS and MARY his Wife and the Survivor of them and to the Executors Administrators and Assigns of such Survivor shall receive the yearly Dividend Income Proceeds Interest and Profit thereof and pay the same unto my loving Wife ANN for and during the term of her natural life.

And as to my said Household Goods plate and linen (after a True and Perfect Inventory made and taken of the same) permit and suffer my said Wife ANN to enjoy the same and to have the use and wear of them for and during the like term of her natural life.

And as to my Ready Money and Moneys at Interest and all and every other my Personal Estate whatsoever In Trust after payment of my Debts and Funeral Expenses and Probate of this my Will to place the same thereout at Interest upon Government or other good Securities and pay the Interest Proceeds and Profit thereof unto my said Wife ANN for and during the like term of her natural life.

And from and after her decease I give and bequeath unto my said Daughters the said ANN Wife of the said STEPHEN GIBBON and the said MARY Wife of the said RICHARD CLEMENTS the sum of twenty five pounds each to be paid them within three months next after my Wifes decease out of my Personal Estate.

And after payment thereof I give and bequeath all and every my forty shares in the said Welsh Mines which I am now possessed of or intitled unto or any other Share or Shares that I am possessed of or intitled unto or which at any time or times hereafter I shall be possessed of or intitled unto together with all my Household Goods plate linen Ready Money Money at Interest and all the Rest and Residue of my said Estate given In Trust as aforesaid unto my four said Sons WILLIAM JOHN ROBERT and STEPHEN MATSON and unto my said Daughters the said ANN Wife of the said STEPHEN GIBBON and the said MARY Wife of the said RICHARD CLEMENTS equally divided between them share and share alike.
And if either or any of them die in my lifetime then and in such case I give the part or share of him her or them so dying unto their Children in equal shares.

And I do declare my Will to be that when and as often as any Money part of my Personal Estate which is or shall be by me or the said Trustees placed out at Interest or in any Security or Securities which shall be called or paid in the Receipt or Receipts of my Acting Trustees and Executors for the time being shall be a good and effectual discharge to the person or persons so paying the same. And the Land and Tenements by which the same is or shall be secured shall not be affected by any part of the Trust hereinbefore declared.

And I do hereby make constitute and appoint my four said Sons WILLIAM JOHN ROBERT and STEPHEN MATSON and the said STEPHEN GIBBON and ANN his Wife and the said RICHARD CLEMENTS and MARY his Wife joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me at anytime heretofore made.

In Witness whereof to this to be my last Will and Testament contained in four sheets of paper to the first second and third I have set my Hand and to this last sheet my Hand and Seal the 25th Day of September in the twenty fifth year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Gt. Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith etc. and in the year of Our Lord 1751 ROBERT MATSON

Signed sealed published and declared by the said ROBERT MATSON the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us at whose request and in whose presence we have subscribed our names as witnesses hereunto.

This Will was proved at London the twenty third day of January 1768 .... by the oaths of William Matson the son of the deceased and Stephen Gibbon two of the Executors named in the said Will to whom administration was granted ...
