In the Name of God Amen I JOHN MATSON of the Parish of St. Margarets at Cliffe in the County of Kent Yeoman being of sound Mind Memory and Understanding (praised be God for the same) do make publish and declare my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)
First and principally I commend my Soul to Almighty God its Creator. And my body I commit to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named.
And as to such worldly Estate it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me with I dispose thereof as followeth.

I give and bequeath unto my NEPHEW JOHN RIGDEN of Wingham in the said County of Kent Malster and unto my Niece SARAH the Wife of JOHN NEAME of Littlebourne in the said County Taylor (formerly SARAH RIGDEN the Sister of the said JOHN RIGDEN) the sum of fifty pounds apiece to be paid to them respectively by my Executor within three months after my decease for and in lieu and for full payment satisfaction and discharge of the sum of twenty five pounds apiece which I stand indebted to them under the Will of my late Father and for all Interest due and to become due thereon respectively.

I give and bequeath unto the said JOHN RIGDEN and SARAH NEAME the sum of two hundred pounds apiece to be paid to them respectively by my Executor within three months after my decease.

I give devise and bequeath unto my Servant SUSANNA KNOTT now living with me all that my new built messuage or tenement (wherein I now dwell) with the yard garden and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate lying and being in the Parish of St. Margarets at Cliffe aforesaid To hold the same to the said SUSANNA KNOTT for and during the term of her natural life for her own particular use and occupation and not to let or hire the same to any person or persons whomsoever without the Consent in writing of my Executor for that purpose. And she the said SUSANNA KNOTT keeping the said messuage and premises in good repair and paying and discharging all Quit Rents and other outgoings to which the same are or may be charged or come liable.

I also give and bequeath unto the said SUSANNA KNOTT the first and uninterrupted use and enjoyment of all my household goods furniture plate linen and china which now is or shall or may be in or about my said messuage and premises at the time of my decease for and during the term of her natural life she not commiting any waste spoil or damage or injury therein or thereto except what may arise from the common and necessary and proper use and wear thereof.

And from and immediately after the decease of the said SUSANNA KNOTT I give devise and bequeath my said new built messuage or tenement yard garden ground and appurtenances unto MARY JEKIN daughter of JAMES JEKIN of the Parish of Westcliffe in the said County Yeoman by HESTER his Wife my Niece formerly (STRINGER) her Heirs and Assigns forever
And from and immediately after the decease of the said SUSANNA KNOTT I also give devise and bequeath the said MARY JEKIN of all my said household goods furniture plate linen and china to her own proper use and benefit.

I also give devise and bequeath the said JAMES JEKIN and HESTER his Wife all my Money Securities for Money Stocks in the Public Funds Debts Wearing Apparel and all other my Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever both Real and Personal of which I shall die seized possessed or intitled unto and not herein before by me given devised or bequeathed To hold the same and every part thereof unto the said JAMES JEKIN and HESTER his Wife their Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns to and for their own proper use and benefit
subject to the payment of my Just Debts Funeral Expenses and Charges of Proving and Executing this my Will and everything Incident thereto And to the payment of the sum of the said respective sums of fifty pounds and two hundred pounds apiece to the said JOHN RIGDEN and SARAH NEAME at the time aforesaid.

And also subject to the payment of one Annuity or yearly sum of thirty pounds of lawful money of Gt. Britain unto my said Servant SUSANNA KNOTT and her Assigns for and during the term of her natural Life clear of all deductions whatsoever by half yearly payments the first payment thereof (being fIfteen pounds) to begin and be made at the end of one month next after my decease. And I do hereby give such Annuity of thirty pounds to her accordingly and order and direct the said JAMES JEKIN with a proper Surety immediately after my decease to enter into a Bond to the said SUSANNA KNOTT in a sufficient penalty for payment of the said Annuity by half yearly payments and which I order her to accept as a Security for the same.

And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said JAMES JEKIN Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and hereby revoking all former Wills and other Wills by me at anytime hereto before made declare this only to be my last Will and Testament.

In Witness whereof I the said JOHN MATSON the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained in three sheets of paper to the first two sheets set my Hand and to this third and last sheet my Hand and Seal this 8th Day of June in the year of Our Lord 1793
