Also I do give and bequeath unto SARAH my loving wife all that my bed, bedsteddle and appurtences thereunto
belonging as it now stands in the best chamber of my now dwelling house and also one chest, one case of drawers,
one nest of boxes, six chaires, one firepan, one pair of tongs and one pair of end irons all in the said chamber and
one little table there.
Also I give and bequeath to my said loving wife four pair of sheets, six towels, six tablecloths and twelve napkins
all the rest and residue of all and singular my linnen 1 do give and bequeath unto my daughter SUSAN RUGTES, the four children of my Daughter NEAME (deceased) my daughter ELIZABETH JOAD and my daughter MARY CARRE equally to be divided between in four shares.
Also 1 do give and bequeath unto my son WILLIAM MAY the sume of twenty pounds of lawful money of England to be paid unto him by my Executor hereafter named within twelve months next after my decease.
Also I do give and bequeath unto my said daughter SUSAN RUGTES the sume of three pounds of lawful
money of England.
Also I do give and bequeath unto and amongst the said four children of my said daughter NEAME the sume
of three pounds of like money.
Also I do give and bequeath unto my said daughter ELIZABETH JOAD the like sume of three pounds of like money.
Also I do give and bequeath unto my said daughter MARY CARRE the like sume of three pounds of like money.
All which said last menconed legacies I do hereby will shall be paid by my Executor hereafter named
within twelve months next after my decease
All the rest and residue of all and singular my goods, cattle, chattels and personal estate not hereinbefore particularly bequeathed, my debts, legacies, funeral charges and probate of this my will being first paid and deducted I do give unto my loving son JOHN MAY the younger and I do hereby nominate and appoint him the said JOHN MAY the Younger to be sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament.
Also I do give and devise unto my said son JOHN MAY the Younger and his heires forever all that my messuage,
barneyard and lands thereunto belonging comonly called Corkings containing by situation twelve acres more or less
lying and being in the Parish of Ash next Sandwich aforesaid and now or late in the tenure or occupation of Thomas
Martin or his assigns.
And also all that my messuage or tenement and lands thereunto belonging comonly called
Twenty situate lying and being in the Parish of St.John Baptist in the Isle of Thanet in the County of Kent
containing by estimation five acres more or less and now or late in the tenance or occupation of the widow Spicket
or of her assigns
He my son JOHN MAY the Younger and his sisters paying out of the same unto my said loving wife SARAH for and during the terme of her natural life the yearely sume of twelve pounds of lawfull money of England by four equal quarterly payments (that is to say) the first Dayes of the Annunciation of the Blessed Mary, the Nativity of St.John the Baptist the Feast Day of St. Michael the Archangel and the birth of our Lord Christ by every and equal porcons quarterly to be paid the first payment thereof to be given and be made on the first of the said Feast Dayes which shall first and next happen after my decease
and in case the said yearely sume shall be behind and unpaid by the space of thirty dayes next after any of the feasts aforesaid I do hereby impower my said wife to enter into and upon all and every the premises aforesaid and the distress and distresses there held and found to lead, drive. take and carry away and the same to withold and keep untill the said yeary sume and all arrears thereof with all costs for taking such distresses shall be there out well and truly satisfied and paid (anything before to the contrary not withstanding)
provided always that my will and mind is that my said wife (if she shall think fit) shall and may dwell and inhabit with my said son JOHN MAY and then and in such case I do hereby give and devise unto my said wife the yearly sume of six pounds only and no more out of my Reale Estate for so long time as she shall remain with my said son JOHN MAY the same to be paid and received in manner as is aforesaid.( anything before in this my will to the contrary notwithstanding)
IN Witness whereof to this my last Will and Testament in three sheets of paper contained to every sheet thereof my
hand and seal I have set and put Seal the Day and Year first aforesaid JOHN MAY signed sealed published and
declared by the said John May thereso to be his last Will and Testament the said sixteenth day of June Anno Dmi
1707 and by us subscribed as witnesses in his presence and at his request.
