In the Name of God Amen this fifth day of March 1749 and in the 23rd Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second King over Gt. Britain, France and Ireland Defender of the Faith.
I GEORGE MAY of Chessmans in the Parish of Birchington in the Isle of Thanet in the County of Kent Farmer being infirm in body but of Sound and Perfect Mind and Memory praised be God for it and considering the uncertainty of the present life and being Desirous to settle that Estate with which it hath pleased God to bless me with I do here make my last Will and Testament in writing in manner and form following.
That is to say first of all I give up my soul into the Hands of Almighty God that gave it hoping for Salvation through the Merits of Jesus Christ my Redeemer and my body I bequeath to the Earth to be Decently Interred by my Executors hereafter named.

Also I give and bequeath to my loving wife ELIZABETH MAY the sum of ten pounds of lawfull money of England over and besides the two hundred pounds due to her on my bond given to her at the time of our marriage.

Also I give and bequeath to my son JOHN MAY the sum often pounds of good and lawfull money of England.
Also I give to my daughter MERCY PETLY my silver tankard.

Also after the payment of all my just debts, funeral charges and probate of this my last Will and Testament by my Executors hereinafter named then it is my Will that all my Real Estate, Houses, Lands and Tenements and also all my personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what the nature and degree soever the same shall exist and shall be equally divided amongst and betwixt all my son and daughters That is my son JOHN MAY, my daughter ELIZABETH KNOTT the wife of HENRY KNOTT of Minster, my daughter MARY KNOTT the wife of EDWARD KNOTT of Ashford, my daughter SARAH MAY and my daughter MERCY PETLY wife of JOHN PETLY of Ash, each of them to have, share and share alike.

And I do hereby appoint my son JOHN MAY and my son JOHN PETLY to be Executors of this my last Will and Testament in one sheet of paper contained and to this my last Will and Testament I have set my hand and seal the Day and Year first above written. GEORGE MAY signed sealed and delivered as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us Witnesses
