In the Name of God Amen I Alexander Mepham of Southfleet in the County of Kent Butcher being sick and weak in Body but of sound and disposing Mind and understanding praised be God for the same do make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in writing in manner and form following that is to say
First and principally I resign my poor and immortal Soul into the Hands of Almighty God and my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the Discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named

I Also give unto my Sisters Mary Edwards and Deborah Whitling the Sum of twenty Pounds a Peice to be paid to them within twelve Months next after my decease
Also I give unto my Nephew John Edwards the Sum of five Guineas to be paid or applied for his Benefit at the Discretion of my Executrix

Also I give and devise all my Messuages or Tenements Lands and Hereditaments and parts and shares of Messuages or Tenements Lands and Hereditaments and other my Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever And of what Nature kind or Quality soever in Possession Reversion and Expectancy unto and to the Use of my dear and loving Wife Mary Mepham and her Assigns for and during the Term of her natural Life (subject to the Interest of the Mortgage by me made thereof or part thereof)
and from and after the decease of my said Wife then and I give and devise the same unto and to the Use of the Child or Children of her Body equally (if more than one) share and share alike and to the Heirs of the Body or Bodies of such Child or Children lawfully issuing

and for want of such Child or Children or there being such and their happening to die without Issue then I give and devise all my said Messuages or Tenements Lands and Hereditaments and Real Estate (subject and chargeable to and with the Mortgage by me made as aforesaid) unto and to the use of my Brother Thomas Mepham and of my said Sisters Mary and Deborah their Heirs and Assigns equally share and share alike as Tenants in Common and not as joint Tenants

And all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Goods Chattels Effects and Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever I give will and bequeath unto my said loving Wife Mary Mepham her Executors and Administrators

And I do hereby make nominate and appoint her my said Wife sole Executrix of this my Will and revoking all former and other Wills I declare this only to be my last Will and Testament
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the eighteenth day of December in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty eight _ The mark of Alexander Mepham
