We Counsellors of the King and Register of the Royal French Chamber of Superior Justice and underwritten in virtue of the decree of 19th September 1773 went to the House of Mr James Kircklandt situate in the Triangle near the Hansvoghey in the Fridrickswerder where lodgeth Mr James Minet of Dover Pier Esquire whom we found enjoying an entire sound Mind and Understanding but indisposed by reason of his great Age in order to receive from him his declaration of last Will the which he hath made and dictated in manner following

The said Testator gives and bequeaths to his Grand Nephew Isaac Minet third Son of Mr Hughes Minet and his Godson the Handsome large House which belongs to him at Dover as immovable Paternal Estate and all other Houses Warehouses Cellars and Quays which belong thereunto and situated in the same Town and generally all the immoveables belonging to him as well in Dover aforesaid as in any other Place in England

and in case that his said Grand Nephew should die before the Age of twenty one Years or before Marriage or without leaving Issue in those cases he substitutes in his place his Brother William as to the whole Legacy above mentioned and in case this last should not also attain the said Age he substitutes in his Room his Brother John Lewis

He gives and bequeaths to the Church of the Dorothea Stadt of Berlin four hundred Ducats for the Relief of the Poor (to wit)
two hundred Ducats for the French Poor of this City and two hundred Ducats for the German reformed Poor of the said Church of the Dorothea Stadt

He gives and bequeaths to the Church of Dover to be employed for the use of its Poor twenty five Guineas
He gives and bequeaths to his Maid Servant Mary Vincent one hundred Ducats
to his other Maid Servant Anne Regine Engelfrieden five and twenty Ducats
To his Footman John twenty five Ducats
To his Coachman Michael twenty Ducats
and to the Cook that may happen to be in his Service on the day of his death fifteen Ducats

And with regard to his Body the Testator wishes that it may be deposited in the Vault of the Church of the new City where are deposited the Minister Achard and Sir Andrew Mitchel

As to the Money which the Testator has at the Bankers Neubronner and which consists according to the tenor of his Bills of Exchange of the 1st of July 1773 at twelve Months date in fifteen thousand Rix Dollars in Gold and fifteen thousand Rix Dollars in Silver Current Money of Brandenburg making together thirty thousand Rix Dollars which he placed with him for the Consideration of four Per Cent Interest per Annum the said Testator directs that he Transfer the said Trust Moneys of thirty thousand rix Dollars to the account of his Nephew Mr Hughes Minet but as the Testator advanced this Money to the said Sir Neubronner in order to assist him in his Business he wills and means that he shall not be bound to reimburse the said Capital but in the following manner (that is to say) ten thousand Rix Dollars the first year after his death ) ten thousand Rix Dollars the second and ) ten thousand Rix Dollars the third year

As to the remainder of his Effects in whatsoever they may consist the said Testator names and institutes for his general and Universal Heirs 1. Mr Hughes Minet his Nephew 2 and 3 the two Sisters German of the said Mr Hughes Minet and fourthly Mr Daniel Minet the Nephew of the said Testator for to divide the whole between them in four equal Shares

The said Testator names for his Testamentary Executor Mr Hughes Minet one of the four Heirs herein above mentioned and he wills and means that he puts himself into Possession of whatsoever he shall leave behind him in the House of the Sir Kircklandt immediately after his death and in his absence Messrs Kircklandt and Neubronner or such other to whom the said Testamentary Executor shall grant his Power of Attorney the said Testator expressly forbidding all fixing of Seals Inventory or other judicial proceedings whatsoever

This is his Testament and Disposition of last Will which he declared to us he would have punctually executed after his death willing that it should avail either as a Will Codicil Gift or account of Death or as such other disposition of last Will as may be better warranted by the Laws forbidding all drawback of the Tebellianique Quarter Falcidian or otherwise

And this having been read in an audible voice to the said Testator by us the underwritten Counsellors and Register he has declared that this was his last Will and has signed in our Presence and Placed the Seal of his Arms and we have in like manner Signed and Affixed the small seal of the French Superior Court of Justice Done and Passed at Berlin the 20th September 1773 James Minet _ De Gaultier _ Piquot Register
