In the name of God Amen The fourthe day of Julye in the yeare of our lord God 1580 And in the two and twenteth yere of the Raigne of or Soveraigne ladye quene Elizabethe
I Thomas Morton thelder of Adesham in the countye of Kent, yeoman, being of good and p[er]fect remembrannce do make this my last will & testament in maner and forme following
Fyrste I bequeathe my soule to allmightie God my bodye to be buryed wthin the Churchyard of Adesham

Item I bequeathe to the rep[a]rations of the churche of Adesham a iijs iiijd
Item I bequeathe to the pore people of the p[ar]ishe of Adesham five shillinges to be devyded amongest them according to the discretion of my executors
Item I bequeathe to Elizabeth Maxsted the daughter of John Maxsted vijs to be payd unto her wthin one monethe after my decease
Item I bequeathe to Elizabeth Golde five poundes to be payd unto her wthin one yere nexte after my decease

All my goodes & chattells after my dettes & my said legacyes payd and my funerall discharged I geve and bequeath unto Thomas Morton my sonne and to my thre(e) daughters Wynifride Jorden, Agnes Rowde (or Lowde) and Mary Sylke equally betweene them to be devyded
Item I make my said sonne Thomas Morton my sole executor of this my testament

This is the Laste Will of me the sayd Thomas Morton thelder made the day and yere abovewritten As touching the disposicon of all my landes and Tenementes

Item I give and bequeathe unto Thomas Morton my sonne and to his heires my messuage and all my landes in Adesham upon Condicon that he his heires or assignes do paye unto everye of the sonnes of Richard Morton my sonne deceased ther(e) executors or assignes at their ages of xxj [21] yeres the soome of twelve poundes of lawfull mony of England and unto the daughter of the said Richard Morton the soome of fowre poundes at her age of one & twentie yeres or at the day of her mariage wch of them shall firste happen, the sayd sonnes of the said Richard releassing unto the said Thomas Morton my sonne & to his heires all their righte & title of & in all suche landes as they do or may clayme eyther by discent as heires to Elizabeth Morton my wyfe as also heires by discent from me the said Thomas Morton
And my will is that if any of the said sonnes do dye before they come to the said age of one & twentie yeres that the one of them to be thothers heires releassing their rights as is aforesayd

A Codcill recyted & declared by the abovenamed Thomas Morton after the declaring of the will aforesaid, vizt.
he willed & declared being if good & perfecte remembrannce that his will w[hi]ch Mr. Den had made & written shoulde stande for his will
These being wittnesses hereunto Mary Sandye and Joane Arnolde

Probatum fuit: 26th September 1584

Notes:
Thomas Morton thelder was buried at Holy Innocents, Adisham, Kent on 17 Sep 1584.
Daughter Annes Morton was baptised at Adisham on 8 Jul 1539 – which is the first year baptisms were recorded at Adisham.
There then follows (all mis-transcribed): Thomas 16 Oct 1541; Mary 16 Oct 1549 (dies); and Mary 11 Aug 1549;
Daughter Mary Murton married John Silk 7 May 1575 at Adisham.
