In the name of God Amen The sixtene day of Aprill 1580 and in the xxijth yere of Her Ma[jes]ties Raigne
I Bennett Moyle widow, late wife of Walter Moyle of Boughton Aluph in the county of Kent Esquire deceased being sick in bodye but of good and p[er]fect memory (thankes be God therefore) & calling to my remembraunce that no thing is more certen than death and that we brought nothing into the worlde, nor? shall carry anything bured therefore make & declare this my last will & testament of suche temporall goods as God of his goodness hath bestowed uppon me
Firste & principally I comende my soule into the handes of allmightie God who gave it And my bodye to the earthe to be buryed in convenient sepulture most humbly bese[e]ching God who gave his only sonne Jesus Christe to be the Saviour of his elect & to take the nature of man upon hym & to fulfill the lawe for o[u]r synnes and to dye the most bitter and ignominious deathe of the crosse he guiltlesse for o[u]r guiltnesse that it will please him of his infinite goodnes & mercye to pardon & forgeve me all my sinnes And that at he toke him ane flesh So he will vouchsafe to make me partaker of the righteorisnes of hym selfe myne only Saviour & redeemer And that I may injoye the fruites of his death & pasion & be inheritour of his everlasting Kingdome, Amen

Item I will that fortie shillings shalbe distributed to the poore housholders of the parishe wher(e) I shalbe buryed by the discretion of myne executors
Item I will that my sonne Thomas Turney shall have the occupation & using of fiftye poundes of lawfull mony of England
Upon Condition that he or his heires shall w[i]thin xxviij [28] dayes next after my decease by his or ther good & sufficient dede in the lawe graunte unto myne Overseers or the Survivors of them and to ther heires one rent charge of fowre poundes of lawfull mony of England by the yeare w[i]th sufficient clause of distresse for the same and seisen therupon delivered out of landes & Ten[emen]tes sufficient and lyable to the same for the use of Amy Moyle my only daughter nowe lyving for (the) terme of the lyfe of the sayd Amye so long as she shall contyune unmaryed
the said yerely rent to be quarterly payable by equall portions at the nowe dwelling house of the sayd Thomas Turney in Saltwood called Brockhill, the first payment to beginne at suche of the fowre quarter & usuall feastes dayes of St. John the Baptiste, St. Michaell Tharchangell, the birth of o[u]r Lord Christe and the Annunciacon of o[u]r ladye as shall first happen next after the sayd fiftye poundes shall or may be receaved by my said sonne Thomas Turney his heyres, executors or administrators

And if it shall happen my daughter Amye to mar[r]y with the consent or good liking of myne Overseers or the most parte of them then lyving Then I will the said fiftie pounds be paid unto my said daughter Amy Moyle at the day of her mariage And the said rent chardge of fowre [poundes by the yeare from the payment of the sayd fiftie poundes to cease & determyn
And if it happen my sayd daughter Amy Moyle to dye before mariage or to mary without consent or good liking of my Overseers or the more part of them that then shalbe alyve Then I will the sayd fiftie poundes to my Goddaughter Bennett Turney if she be then lyving, or if she be not then alyve Then I will the said fyftie poundes to my sayd Sonne Thomas Tourney his executors and administrators

Item I will also my sonne Robert Moyle shall have the occupacon & using of the other fiftie poundes

Provided allwayes and my meaning is that is any of my said sonnes Thomas Turney and Robert Moyle shall refuse to take the said fiftie poundes to them severally before lymited and to graunt the same rent charge in forme as aforsayd, Then I will the said fiftie poundes of hym or them so refusing shalbe presently payd unto myne overseers or the survivour of them to be by disposed to the use of my said daughter Amy Moyle in sort & manner as to them or the more parte of them that then shall be lyving shalbe thought convenient

And for that my daughter Amy is Lete? by me w[i]thout stay I do entyrly desyre my Lady Finch, my Cousen Roger Twisden and Robert Honywood & every of them to expresse ther good wills unto the said Amy, and to be a staye & comforte unto her and that suche of them as my daughter shall think best to be with will vouchsafe to be her at table and bonde, she paying for the some even as they woulde her children shoulde be used in like case

Item geve and bequeathe unto my sonne Robert Moyle my Silver Salte with a cover, my Tester of blacke velvet & a carpett that lyethe in the presse and thre(e) peeces of hanging in the Chamber at Eastwell
And to Bennett Moyle one of the daughters of my said sonne Robert I geve tenne poundes
Item I geve and bequeathe unto Walter Moyle my sonne my best fetherbede w[hi]ch is nowe at Eastwell with a Bolster and my cov[e]rlet of Imagerye hanging in the chamber at Eastwell aforesaid, and all my brasse and pewter wthin the wardrobe at Buckwell. and also a testarne of black velvett and yellow faston ymbrodered [embroidered] wth dropps And a silver salte wthout a cov[e]r, sixe silver spones and a gylte spone and fower payre of sheettes, two dozen of napkins & two table clothes

Item I geve and bequeath unto my daughter Amy Moyle fowre payre of sheettes, two dozen of napkins, two table clothes & all my wearing l ynnen (other than this my will I have bequeathed to others) and also one gowne of grograine & a kertell of dmame?, a trussing bedestedle and one of my two chestes at Buckwell, the other wch is bo[u]nde wth yron I will to my said sonne Walter Moyle

Item I will and bequeathe unto my sonne Thomas Turney all suche housholde stuffe and ymplements as are nowe at Brockhill and wch before in this my testament or hereafter in the same I have not disposed unto others
Item I geve unto my daughter Bennett Turney a fetherbede, a bolster that hoth in the trendle bede in my chamber at Buckwell next the hasell? Item I geve unto my daughter Turney my damaske gowne
Item unto John Turney a little gribll? pott wthout a cover
Item unto my daughtr Moyle my clothe gowne garded wth velvet
Item I give unto my sonnne in lawe Thomas Moyle one fetherbede wth a bolster and blanckett & sheettes unto yt as it standeth in my chamber against the haull at Buckwell
And I give unto Hughe my Servannt xls = forty shillings

The Residue of all my goods I will shalbe equally devyded by the Overseers of this my Will betwene the said Robte. Moyle & Walter Moyle my sonnes wch Robert & Walter I make executors of this my will & testament
and Roger Twisden, Thomas Honiwood and Robert Honiwood Overseers of the same
And I give them for their paynes to be taken about the same an angell

In Wittnes whereof I the sayd Bennett Moyle Widowe to this my last will and testament have set my seale dated the day and yeare above written
These being wittnesses Josias Nicholls; William Villie; Alexander Rayner
