Item I give and bequeath unto my Son John Muddle Forty
Shillings of lawful money of England to be paid unto him within Twelve Months after my
decease by my Executor hereafter named. And I further give unto my said Son John the high
bedsteddle in the back chamber with the bed boulster [bolster] and all things belonging to it
as it now stand.
Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth my Eldest daughter wife of James
Peckingham of Gillingham Five Pounds of lawful money to be paid within Eighteen Months
after my decease by my Executor hereafter named.
Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth my grandchild Five shillings in money to be paid
her within Three Months after my decease by my Executor hereafter named.
Item I give and bequeath unto Susanna Mudle daughter of my Son Stephen a Decease Ten Pounds of lawful money to be paid unto her At her age of Eighteen years if she be then living (Else not) And I Will and appoint the said Ten Pounds to be paid into the Hands of Thomas King of Maidstone Cordwainer and John Austen of Boxley aforesaid Yeoman whom I appoint Overseers of this my last Will and Testament They giving Bond for the payment of the said Ten Pounds unto the said Susanna Mudle at her age of Eighteen years if she shall be then living and the interest of it I Will to be employed [employed] towards the Educating and bringing up of my Son William Muddle to whom I bequeath the said Ten Pounds if the said Susanna shall happen to die before she attains to the age of Eighteen years.
Item I give unto my youngest Son William Muddle and to his heirs for Ever All that my Messuage or Tenement with the Appurtenances in Thurnham now in Tenure or Occupation of William Athawse? at his age of Four and Twenty years, And if my said Son William shall happen to die before he attain to the age of Four and Twenty years Then I give and bequeath the said Tenement unto Walter Mudle my Eldest Son and to his heirs for Ever.
Item I further give and bequeath unto my said Son William Fifty Pounds of Lawful money to be paid him at his age of Four and Twenty years And if my Son William happens to die before he attains to the age of Four and Twenty years Then I will the said Fifty Pounds unto the Rest of my Children equally to be divided. And I Will and appoint the said Fifty Pounds bequeathed to my said Son William to be paid into the hands of my overseers Thomas King and John Austen by my Executor within One year after my decease They giving Bond for the payment of the said Fifty Pounds unto my said Son William at his age of Four and Twenty years. The profit of which money I Will and appoint to be by them employed towards the Maintenance and Education of my said Son William during his Minority. And I do appoint the said Thomas King and John Austen to Receive the Rents and profits of my said Messuage given unto my Son William till he attain to his age of Four and Twenty years towards the Maintenanceing and bringing him up to whom I Commit the Care and tuition of my said Son William during his Minority.
And I further do Will and bequeath Ten Pounds of
Lawful money (over and above the said Fifty Pounds bequeathed unto my Son William) To
be paid into the hands of the aforesaid Thomas King and John Austen by my Executor within
One year after my decease to be employed for and towards the putting out of my Son William
an Apprentice to Some honest Trade or calling.
Item I further give and bequeath unto my said
Son William at his age of Four and Twenty years the Join bedsteddle in the Parlour with the
bed boulster Pillows blankets Coverings Curtains and all things belonging unto it as it now
standeth, Six pair of my best Sheets my best Tablecloth and One Dozen of Napkins and the
Chest at the bed Feet to put them in, One brass pot, and Two brass Stupnetts [saucepans]
All which said goods bequeathed To my said Son William I Will and appoint to be by my
Executor delivered unto Thomas King and John Austen aforesaid within One Month after my
decease, by them for to be kept for my Son William until he attain to the age of Four and
Twenty years.
Item I give and bequeath unto Anne Howten my maid servant The half heads bedsteddle standing in the Parlour with the bed boulster blanket Rug and all belonging to it as it now standeth to be delivered unto her by my Executor Immediately after my decease.
Item all other my goods Cattells [live-stock] Chattels and moveable Estate whatsoever not here in
before bequeathed my Debts Legacies and funeral Expenses First being discharged I give
and bequeath unto my Eldest Son Walter Mudle who I make sole Executor of this my last Will
and Testament. And I Will and appoint that my Executor shall pay unto the aforesaid Thomas
King and John Austen the Sum of Three Pounds for the Interest of the Fifty Pounds given to
my Son William towards his keeping and Maintenance for the years time that he keepeth the
said Fifty Pounds before he pay it into their hands. In Witness where of that this is my last
Will and Testament I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and year above written
