In the Name of God Amen I Elizabeth Muddle of St Margaret’s next the City of Rochester in the County of Kent Widow being sick and weak in Body but of sound and disposing mind and memory praise be God do make publish and declare my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say First and principally I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator assuredly believing through the precious Death and passion of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to obtain full and free pardon and remission of my Sins and my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executor by me hereafter named and as touching and concerning that small Worldly Estate the Lord hath been pleased to bestow upon me far above my deserts I do hereby give and dispose thereof as followeth that is to say

Imprimis I do give and bequeath One Moiety of all my Household stuff Debts goods chattels and personal Estate whatsoever unto my Loving Brother in Law William Muddle of St Margaret’s aforesaid Fisherman to be by him given to and amongst his Children as he shall See good and I will that the Bed and Bedding with the appurtenances which was my late husband’s Edward Muddle shall be taken as part of and belonging to the said Moiety or half part of the said promises

and the other moiety or half part of my household stuff Debts goods chattels and personal Estate whatsoever aforesaid I give and bequeath the same equally to and among my four Cousins Ann Whetstone, Joane Richardson, Elizabeth Hammond and Frances Goddin share and share alike only I Will my Cousin Elizabeth Hammond shall have the Bed and Bedding on which I lie with the Furniture and appurtenances to the same belonging towards her share in the same in case it be under the Value of a Quarter of the said Moiety and for and as her share therein if it be over the value of a Quarter part thereof.

Item I will that my Loving Friend Mr Robert Chappell of St Margaret’s aforesaid Boatswain of his Majesties Ship Sandwich do take on Account of all my Household stuff Debts goods chattels and personal Estate aforesaid Immediately after my Decease and within One month afterwards see the same according to this my Will share and Divided in whose Judgement in the said Partition I will that my said Brother and Cousins aforesaid shall acquiesce as if I had done the same in my lifetime and for the said Mr Robert Chappell my said Friends love and kindness herein I do give and bequeath unto him the sum of Five shillings to buy him a pair of gloves in remembrance of me

and lastly I do make and ordain my Loving Brother in Law William Muddle aforesaid full and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking annulling and making void all and every former and other Will and Wills by me made or published [unreadable section at top of second page] the seventeenth day of August in the first year of the Reign of our Majesty Lord James the second by the grace of God King over England [unreadable section] the mark of Elizabeth Muddle Signed sealed published and declared by the above said Elizabeth Muddle the Testatrix to be her last Will and Testament in the presence of
the mark of Katherine Long, Susanna Austin, John Rosewell.
