In the name of God Amen the Eighteenth day of August in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand Sixe hundred fiftye and sixe
I Anthony Pawll of Halden in the Countie of Kent Yeoman being in good and perfect health and memorie (I praise God therefore) doe make and ordeyne this my Last will & Testament in manner and forme followinge
First I bequeath my Soule into the handes of Almightie Go my maker and Redeemer hopeinge by the death & passion of my all Sufficient Saviour Jesus Christ to be saved My Bodie I comitt to the earth to be buried in decent sort in the Churchyard of Halden abovesaid by myne Executor hereafter mentioned

Imprimis I give and bequeath unto Mary Pawll my daughter the sume of one hundred and fiftye pounds of good and Lawfull money of England To be paid her or her Assignes by my said Executor hereafter menconed when she shall come to her age of one and twentie yeares or day of marriage w[hi]ch shall first happen after my decease
And my further Will and minde is That myne Executor hereafter menconed shall pay or cause to be paid unto the said Mary my daughter or her Assignes the sume of seaven poundes yearlie every yeare towards her maintenannce for the use of the said one hundred fiftye poundes untill the same be paid to her or her Assignes
Item I give unto Mary all Margaretts her late deceased Sisters Wearinge Cloathes and her flaxe and Sheets

Item I give and bequeath unto Joseph Pawll my youngest sonne the sum of Fower score poundes of Lawfull money of England To be paid him by mine Executor within one yeare next after my decease
Item I alsoe give and bequeath unto the said Joseph Pawll my sonne presently after my decease All my landes with th[e ]appurtenances lyinge and beinge in the parish of Marden in the said Countye of Kent comonlye called or knowne by the name of Stilebridge lands now in the occupacon of one Stephen Nashe or his Assignes to him and his heires for ever

Item I give and bequeath unto John Pawll my eldest sonne all my mancon house wherein I nowe dwell with all the barne Stables and other buildings to the same belonginge with All the Closes gardens orchards and lands with th'appurtenancs to the said messuage belonginge or apperteyninge Sett lyinge and beinge in the said Parish of Halden to him and his heires for ever presentlie after decease

All the rest of my moveable goods Cattells and chattells not before bequeathed I give and bequeath unto the said John my sonne payinge my debtes legacies and funerall expences discharged

And I doe make the said John Pawll my sonne my Sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament revoakinge all other wills and Codicill formerlie be me made
And this I finishe my Last Will and Testament in the presence of those whose names are here underneath Subscribed

This Will was proved at London before the Judges for probate of Wills and grauntinge administrations lawfully authorized the fifth day of December in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand sixe hundred fifty & sixe by the oathe of John Pawll the sonne of the said deceased To whome was grannted administracon & he beinge by vertue of a Commission first sworne truely to administer

9th May 1625 Marriage of Anthony Paul, Yeoman of Smarden, Kent, aged 36 and Margaret Baker, o.t.p., about 20 (whose parents are dead, with consent of her Guardian Thomas Baker, Gentleman) were married at St. Mary the Virgin, High Halden, Kent.
Their children’s baptisms: 18 Aug 1626 John Paull; 30 Aug 1629 Joseph Pawl (both at St. Michael, Smarden, Kent);
26 Aug 1632 Margaret Paull; 14 May 1635 Anthony Paul (Bu.: 16 May 1635); 16 Jul 1637 Mary Pawll (– all at High Halden, Kent).
