In the name of God Amen The Twentie seventh daie of Januarye in the yeare of oure Lorde God a thowsande Fyve hundreth sixiij [1563]
I John Pigot of Chyddingstone in the Countie of Kente yeoman beinge sicke of bodie and of perfecte remembrance thankes be geven to God do make this my Laste Will and testament in manner and Fourme Followinge
Firste I bequeathe my sowle to the marcie of Allmightie God my saviour and Redemer and my bodie to be buried within the Church yarde of Chiddingstone aforesaid

Item I geve to the pore mens boxes of the same p[ar]ishe xxd
Item I will and Bequeath iijs iiijd [3s 4d] to be bestowed amongeste the pore people at my Buriall

Item I geve to my twoo daughters Margerie and Pratthesy? vijli xiijs iiijd [£7 13s 4d] a pece to be paide to them at there dayes of marriage or at their Ages of one and Twentie yeares or at which of them shall Firste happen by my Executrix
And yf it happen any of my Twoo Daughters to die before she be marryed or Com to hir age of one and Twentie yeares then my Will is that she that Overlivethe shall have xl li [£40] to be payde Unto hir at the Daye of marryage or the age of one and Twentie yeares as aforesaide
And yf they boathe die before they be married or cum unto their ages of one and Twentie yeares then I will that their legacies shall Remaine to my Executrice

Item I geve and bequeathe Unto my vj sonnes that is to seye Willm, John, Richard, Henrie, Baptiste and Edwarde to everie of them a Cowe to be Delivered at their ages of one and Twentie yeares
Item I geve unto my Twoo Daughters Margery and Prattesey? to every of them a Cowe to be delivered Unto them at the dayes of their marriage or at the ages of one and Twentie yeares or at Whiche of them shall Firste happen
Item I geve to everie of my Sonnes above named Twoo Payre of Shetes

Item I geve and bequeathe Unto Willm Pigot my sonne xxxli of good and lawfull money of Inglonde to be payde Unto hym within Twoo yeares nexte after my decease
Item I geve and bequeathe Unto John Pigot my sonne Thirtie Poundes of good and lawfull money of Inglonde to be payde Unto hym within Twoo yeares nexte after my decease
Item I geve and bequeathe unto Richard Pigot my sonne xxxli of good and lawfull money of Englande to be payde Unto him Within twoo yeares nexte after my decease
Provided allweye And my will is that yf eny of my said three sonnes that is to seye Willm, John and Richard dye before they be paide there saide legasies of thirtie poundes that then the twoo that survive shall have his parte that so is departed this worlde equallie to be devided betwene them And to be paide at the tyme above lymited
And yf twoo of them happen to departe this worlde before they be paide their saide Legacies of thirtie poundes a pece then I will that he that over lyveth shall have their whole legacies to be paide unto hym at the tyme of paymente of his owne legacie

Item I geve to my sonne Willm my beste brasse potte
Item I geve to John my sonne my beste brasse panne
Item I geve to Richarde my sonne my seconde brasse panne
Item I geve to Henrie my sonne my beste Cawderne [Cauldron]
Item I geve to Baptiste and Edwarde my sonnes to eche of them twoo Pewter Platters and twoo pewter dishes

The Reste of my goods not bequethed my debtes paide and Legacies perfourmed I geve and bequeathe unto Margerie my Wief whom I make my sole Executrix to se(e) this my laste Will parfourmed And she to bestowe them where she shall thinke beste so she keepe herselfe sole and unmaried And yf she marie [marry] then my Will is that they shall remaine unto all my Children then lyvinge equallie to be devided amongeste them

Thies beinge witnes to this my laste Will
Robarte Heathe; Willm Snatt; Thomas Cowp and others

This is the Laste will of me the saide John Pigot Concerninge my landes and tenementes made the daye and yeare above Written

Firste I geve and bequeath unto Margerie my wief all my landes and tenementes rents revercons [reversions] and services wt other Hereditamentes with their appurten[a]ncs sett lyinge and beinge in the parishe of Chyddingstone and Pensherste [Penhurst] for terme of her lief she kepinge her selfe so longe sole and unmaried and beinginge up iiij of my saide Children, that is to seye Margerie, Prattesey, Baptiste and Edwarde Untill they shall accomplishe there severall ages of one and Twentie yeares or be married
And she to Fynde and kepe all the howses and other edifices of in and uppon the premisses well and sufficiente repayred duringe all her terme and Occupacon thereof at hyer Costes and Chardges

And after her decease I geve and bequeathe all my landes and tenementes and other the premisses aforesaide wt their appurtenncs unto Henrie Pigot my sonne and unto theires [the heirs] males of his bodie lawfullie begotten
And yf Henrie dye withoute heire male of his bodie lawfullie begotten then I will all the premisses aforesaide shall remaine and Come unto Willm my sonne And unto the heires males of his bodie lawfullie begotten
And yf Willm dye wtoute heire male of his bodie lawfullie begotten then my Will is that my lands and tenementes and other the premisses aforesaid shall remaine to John Pigot my sonne and unto his heires males of his bodie lawfullie begotten
And for lacke of yssue male of his bodie lawfullie begotten to remaine Unto Richarde my sonne and the heires males of his bodie lawfullie begotten
And for defaulte of suche yssue male of his bodie lawfullie begotten to remaine to Baptiste my sonne and to his heires males of his bodie lawfullie begotten
And for defaulte of suche yssue to remaine to Edward Pigot my sonne and unto his heires for ever

Provided allweie [always] and my will is that yf Margerie my wief marrye that then my sonne Henrie shall enter Immediatlie in to all my landes and tenements afforesaide And the same to have houlde and Injoye accordinge to this my wyll kepeinge my said iiij children that is to seye Margerie, Prattesey, Baptiste and Edwarde untill they Come unto their severall ages of one and Twentie yeares or be married at his Costes and Chardges as Margerie my Wief shoulde have done yf she hadd kepte her selfe sole and Unmarried and Injoyed my said landes

Provided allweye and my will is that Henrie my sonne shall paye Unto my twoo sonnes Baptiste and Edwarde oute of my said landes and Tenements xxxli a yeare of good and lawfull moneye of Englande at their severall ages of one and twentie yeares And yf yt Fortune any of my said Two sonnes Baptiste and Edwarde to dep[ar]te this worlde before he come unto his age of one and Twentie yeares then my Will is that he that overlyvethe shall have his said legacie of xxxli that so is depted to be paid at the Tyme above lymited And yf boath my said sonnes Baptiste and Edwarde die before they come unto their severall ages of one and Twentie yeares then I will that there saide legacies of xxxli a pece shall remaine unto my other sonnes then lyvinge equallie to be devided amongest them

Provided that yf Henrie my sonne shall make defaulte of Paymente thereof Contrarie to the true meaninge of this my will that then my will is Baptiste and Edwarde or any of them or any other sonnes that is to seye Willm, John and Richarde or any of them or suche of them as then shall have righte to the said legacies accordinge to this my will shall enter into all my landes and Tenements aforesaide and the same to have houlde and Enjoye And the proffites thereof to Take untill they be payde there saide twoo severall legacies of thirtie pounds a peece to one Entire Paymente

Provided Furthermore And my will is that yf Henrie my sonne dye before he payde my said Twoo sonnes Baptiste and Edwarde theire said legacies of Thirtie Poundes a pece that then Willm, John or Richarde or suche of them as then shall have my said landes by Reason of this my will shall paye them there said legacies in suche manner and Fourme as Henrie my sonne should have done yf he had lyved And for not paymente to enter upon them or eny of them In manner and Fourme abovesaid
