In the name of God Amen The seaventh daye of December in the yeare of our lord God one Towsand six hundreth and Nyne and in the Seaventh yeare of the Reigne of our soveraigne Lorde James by the grace of God, Kinge of England Fraunce and Ireland, defender of the Faith &c And of Scotland the Three and Fourtieth,
I John Pigott of Chedingstone in the Countie of Kent Yeoman beeinge at the tyme of the makinge hereof sicklie and weake in bodie but of good and p[er]fect mynde and remembrannce (thanks therfore bee given to Allmightie God) Not wth standinge put in mynde of my last end and willinge to leave that small portion of goods w[hi]ch God hath made mee Steward of heare in this world in such order that no contention fall oute aboute the same after my decease, Therefore I doe ordayne and make this my present Testament and last will in manner and forme followinge (That is to saye);
First I give and bequeath my soule into the handes of Allmightie God whoe gave it trustinge by an assured Faith wch I have in the mercy precious death and blud sheddinge of his deare sonne Jesus Christ my onlye Saviour and Redeemer that the same shalbee presented pure and without spott before the Throne of his maistie [Majesty], And my bodie to the Earth to be buried in the Churchyarde of Chedingstone aforesaide in sure and certeine hope of a joyfull resurrection to life eternall

Item I give and bequeath to the poore of Chedingstone aforesaide iijs iiijd [3s 4d] to bee distributed at my buriall
Item I give and bequeath to my eldest daughter Marie wife of John Wells Fower pounds of lawfull money to bee paid to her Executors or assignes wthin one Yeare next after my decease,
And to her sonne John Wells my godson Twentie shillings to be paid to him at his age of Five and Twentie yeares if he be then livinge

Item I give and bequeath to Elizabeth my second daughter wife of Thomas Crispedge the like some of Fower pounds to bee paid to her wthin the second yeare next after my decease or to her Executors pr assignes,
And to her sonne John Barr my Godson xxs to be paid at his age of Twentie five yeares if he bee then livinge

Item I give and bequeath to my three other daughters Clemence, Johane and Ruthe Pigott to everie of them Elleven pounds a peece besides such goods as I have already given them To be paid to them and everie of them at their severall ages of one and Twentie yeares, yf they bee then livinge or at their severall dayes of their mariage wch shall first happen
And I will that my sonne and Executor, she keape and provide for them untill they shalbe of lawfull age to provide for them selves

Item all the residue of my goods and Cattells debts Creditts and Chattells and all other my moveable goods whatsoever I wholie fullie and wth good effecte intent and purpose give and bequeath to my lovinge sonne John Pigott, which John my sonne I make and ordeyne my whole Executor of this my will, to paye all my debts to see this my will proved and my bodie honestlie and decentlie buried

And I desire my naturall Brother Baptiste Pigott and my lovinge Kinsman Henry Pigott to bee Supervisors and Overseers of this my will, desiringe them to bee helpinge and assistinge my saide sonne and Executor in the probation and Execution of this my will, To whome I give in remembrannce of my good will iijs iiijd a peece over and besides all their chargs and expences about this my will to bee laid oute

And as concerninge my little Tenement called Darbies scituate in East Mallinge in the Countie of Kent wth the landes and appurtenncs [appurtenances] therto belonginge I will and give the same wth all and sing[u]ler thappurtenancs unto the said John Pigott my sonne To have and to hold the same wth all and singler thappurtenances unto the said John my sonne his heires and Assignes for ever

In Witnes whereof to this my present last will I the said John Pigott the Father have sett my hand and seale yeaven? the daye and yeare first above written

And this will amended the xiiij of May 1610 by reason of the death of the wife of the Testator in the presence of me
