In the name of god Amen I Laurence Saferye of Ashe next Sandwich in the countie of Kent yoman being sicke of bodye but of sound and perfecte memorye thankes be given to almightie god do this present second daye of Januarye in the yeere of our lord god one thousand sixe hundred and one and twentie make and ordeyne this my present last will and testament in manner and forme following that is to saye
first I bequeath my soule into the hands of almightie god my creator and maker and to Jesus Christ my redeemer and saviour hoping by his merritts mediacion and righteousnesse to be everlastinglye saved and to be numebred among his electe in the kingdome of heaven and my bodye to the earth to be buryed in Ashe Churchyard as neere as maye be to the bodye of my late father deceased

Item I give and bequeath to Joane my now wife my bedstedle and bedde with all the apparrell and furniture whereon I nowe lye and I do further give unto my sayd wife the full somme of fiftie pounds of lawfull money of England To be payd her in manner and forme following that is to saye the somme of tenne pounds parcell thereof within one moneth next after my decease and the other fortie pounds thereof residue within one yeare next after my decease

Item I give unto John my sonne the somme of fortie pounds of lawfull monye of England when he shall accomplish his full age of fower and twentie yeeres and in the meane time my will and meaning is that my exectuors shall yeerelye after my decease paye unto my sayd sonne the somme of fortie shillings of lawfull monye of England
Provided allwayes and my will and meaning is that if my sayd sonne John shall happend to marrye according to the goodwill and liking of my executors here under named That then my will and meaning is that my executors shall paye the same unto my sayd sonne at his daye of mariage

Item I give and bequeath to Laurence my youngest sonne the somme of fiftie pounds of lawfull monye of England to be payd him at his full age of one and twentie yeeres.
The residue of all and singuler my goods and chattells as well moveable as immoveable unbequeathed my debts legacies and funerall expences being first payd I do wholye give unto Laurence my sonne
and my will is that my executors shall imploye and bestowe the same towards his educacion and maynteynannce in learning or otherwise as to them shall seeme most meete

Item I give unto John Saferye sonne of my brother John Saferye the somme to tenne shillings of lawfull monye of England
Item I do give to the poore people of the parish of Ashe aforesayd the somme of twentie shillings
and I do give to Mr. Brigham minister of Ashe aforesayd for his paynes in preaching my funerall sermon the somme of tenne shillings

And I do ordeyne and make Osmund Saferye and William Saferye my welbeloved brothers executors of this my last will and testament for whose paynes in this behalfe to be taken I do give unto them twentie shillings a peece.

In witnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the daye and yeere above written
