In the name of god Amen the Seaventh daye of March Anno Domini 1621 In the Nyneteenth yeare of the Raigne of our sovraigne lord James by the grace of god king of England Frannce and Ireland defender of the fayth etc And of Scotland the five and fyfty
I William Safferye of Ash next Sandwich in the countie of Kent yoeman being sick in body but of good and perfect remembrance thankes be given unto Almightie god doe mak and ordeyne this my last will and testament in manner followeing Revokeing all former willes by me heretofore made,
First I bequeath my soule into the handes of my creator with full assurance that after this mortall lif is ended I shall be made partaker of lif everlasting and that onely by the merrittes of Jesus Christ my onelie Saviour and Redeemer
Item I bequeath my body to the earth whereof it was first framed and to be buried in the Church yeard of Ash aforesaid as neer the place where my predecessors have beene buried as conveniently may be

Item I give unto the poore of Ash aforesaid tenn shillinges
Item I bequeath unto Mr Bingham tenn shillinges for a funerall sermon to be preached by him at my burial
Item I bequeath unto Joane my eldest daughter one hundred markes of lawfull money of England
Item I bequeath unto Elizabeth my youngest daughter Twentie poundes of lik money to be paid unto her att her age of One and Twentie yeares

Item I wil and bequeath unto John my sonne all my leases which I have of any landes or tenements
Item I will and bequeath unto my said sonne all my landes and tenements whatsoever in the Isle of Thannett or elsewhere in the countie of Kent to be had and houlden to him and his heires for ever, the said John my sonne and his heires, payeing out of the same unto the said Elizabeth my daughter one Annuytie or yearely rent chardge of fower poundes for and dureing the terme of the naturall lif of the said Elizabeth Att the fower usuall Feasts [fold in paper] yeare that is to saye upon the feast dayes of the annunciation to the virgin Mary [fold in paper] Saint Michaell the Archangel and the birth of our lord Christ by even porcions the first payment thereof to beginne and be made upon that feast day of the feast dayes aforesaid which shall next happen after my decease

And my mynd and will is that if the said Annuytye or yearelye rent chardg of fower pownds shall be behind and unpaid after any of the said feast dayes, that then yt shall be lawfull for the said Elizabeth and her assignes to levy and recover the same by distresse and distresses to be had and taken in or upon any of my said landes or tenements in such manner as ys used in cases of Annuytie

Item I bequeath unto my said sonne fower scoare powndes of lawfull money of England to be paid unto him att his age of One and Twentie yeares
Item my mynd and will ys that my brother John Saffery shall have the keepeing tuition and goverment of the said Elizabeth my daughter untill shee shall be one and Twentie yeares of age and shall dureing that tyme in respect hereof and towards his chardges in that behalf have the benefitt of the said Annuytie of fower pounds except onely Tenn shillinges a yeare which he shall allowe the said Elizabeth to dispose of att her pleasure yearly dureing her nonage

Item I will and bequeath unto Richard Saffery my brother Six powndes thirteene shillinges and fower pence in regard that he shall take upon him to be one of the executors of this my will
Item my mynd and will ys that when my debts legacies and funerall expences and other chardges touching or concerning me or this my will all be paid that the surplus which shall then remaine of my goods and moveables shall be equallie divided betweene my said sonne and my daughter Joane

and I do nominate and appoynt the said Richard Saffery my brother and the said Joane my daughter to be sole executors of this my will

And my mynd and will ys that the said Richard Saffery my brother shall provide for the keepeing tuition and governement of my said sonne untill he shall be one and Twentie yeares of age and shall dureing that tyme in respect thereof and to provide for his scholeinge or being taught in some good trade and thinges necessarye have the benefitt and profitt of my said landes tenements and leases before bequeathed unto my said sonne except onelie fortie shillinges a yeare which he shall allow my sonne to dispose of att his pleasure yearly dureing his nonage

And if any of my said Children shall depart this naturall lif before his or her age of One and Twentie yeares not haveing any heire of his or her body lawfully begotten then my mynd and will ys that the Survivors of them shall have the benefitt of such guift legacie and bequest as was bequeathed unto him or her so dyeing as well of the landes tenements and leases as allso of the other chattles goodes and moveables equallie betweene the Survivors of them and theire heires and executors
and yf two of them shall so depart this lif as aforesaid before they or eny of them shall be of the age of One and Twentie yeares that then the Survivor of them and the heires and executors of the Survivor shall have the whole benefitt of all that ys beequeathed to them or any of them
