The Seaven and Twentith daye of Februarye Anno domini 1625 In the first yeare of the Raigne of our sovraigne lord Charles by the grace of god King of England Scotland France and Ireland defender of the fayth etc
I Richard Safferye of Ashe next Sandwich in the Countie of Kent yeoman, being sick and weake in body but of good memory and understanding thankes be given unto almightie god doe make and ordeyne this my last will and testament in manner followeing,
first I bequeath my soule into the handes of the Almightie my creator with full assureance of the remission of my sinnes by the merrittes of Jesus Christ my onelie Saviour and Redemer, Item I committ my body to the earth whereof it was first framed

Item I bequeath unto my two sonnes Salomon and Samuell two hundred pownds of currant money that ys to saye unto eyther of them one hundred pownds a peece to be paid unto them as they shall sevrallie come to the age of One and Twentie yeares and yf eyther of them shall depart this lif before his age of one and Twentie yeares then I bequeath the said two hundred pownds wholie unto the survivor of them; to be paid unto him att his age of One and Twentie yeares

Item I bequeath unto my two daughters Elizabeth and Sara One hundred pownds of currant money that ys to saye unto eyther of them fiftie poundes a peece to be paid unto them as they shall severallie come to the age of eighteene yeares and yf eyther of them shall depart this life before her age of eighteene yeares then I bequeath the said one hundred pownds last mencioned wholie to the survivor of them to be paid unto her att her age of eighteene yeares

And yf yt shall so be that both my said sonnes or both my said daughters shall depart this life before eyther of them shall attaine to the ages before limited then I bequeath all the said Three hundred pownds to the survivor of my said fower children to be paid to him or her att his or her age above limited for the payment of his or her porcion yf there shall but one of them fower live to attaine the said age, but yf there shall two of my sonnes or two of my daughters survive the other two deceaseing as aforesaid then I bequeath the said three hundred pownds to be equallie divided betweene them two sonnes or two daughters surviveing as aforesaid and liveing to the ages aforesaid as they shall severallie come to there said ages above limited for the payments of ther said porcions

Item I bequeath unto John Saffery sonne of my brother William Saffery fortie shillinges of currant money whereof I will that twentie shillinges shall be paid unto him within one moneth next after my decease, and that the other Twentie shilllinges shall be paid unto him, when a full and perfect accompt shall be made with him by my exectrix hereafter named and full satisfaction given by him unto her for that which I have laid out for him

Item I bequeath unto John Casemer and Robart Wattson my servantes and unto either of them three shillinges and fower pence a peece

Item I doe nominate and appoyne Katherine my loveing wife to be sole executrix of this my will and in consideration that shee shall att her owne chardges and with the helpe of the benefitt which maye be made of the said money bequeathed unto my said children provide for the education mayntenance and bringeing uppe of my said children untill they shall attaine to their said severall ages, I doe give and bequeath unto my said wife the some of One hundred pownds of currant money together with all the residue of my money goods leases chattles cattle corne and moveables not herein otherwise bequeathed my debtes legacies and funerall expences being by her paid and dischardged

And I request my loveing brother John Saffery and my good freind Daniel Ralfe to be overseers of this my will and I bequeath unto eyther of them five powndes a peece to be paid unto them within one yeare next after my decease

provided allwayes and my mynd and will ys, that yf my said wife shall after my decease be maried againe to any other mann, before that such mann to whom shee intended to be maried shall together with two sufficient suerties become bownd unto my said overseers in one obligation of six hundred pownds of lawfull money of England with condicion for the true payment of the said Three hundred pownds unto my said children and for their mayntenance education and bringeing uppe according to this my will that then my said wife shall be noe longer executrix of this my will nor have any benefitt hereof or hereby but onely Twentie pownds of currant money which I then bequeath unto her in lieu of the said hundred pownds and of the said residue which before was bequeathed unto her
and then I nominate and appoint the said John Saffery my brother and the said Daniell Ralf to be executors of this my will and that they shall take into their hands all as my wif should otherwise have donne and dispose hereof for the best benefitt of my said children the said Twentie pownds onely excepted
