In the name of God Amen The Nineteenth day of June Anno domini 1638 I Robert Saffery of Eastry in the County of Kent Carpenter being sicke in body but of perfect memory (thankes be to God) doe make and ordaine my last will and testament in manner following viz
first I bequeath my soule into the hands of almighty God hoping to be saved onely by the merits of Jesus Christ and my body to be buried at the discretion of my executor hereafter named

Imprimis I give unto my daughter Joane the wife of William Parker three stockes of bees to be delivered to her the feast of St Michael next after my decease
Item I geve unto my daughter Parnell the wife of William Hawkes three stockes of bees to be delivered as aforesaid
Item I give unto my daughter Mary the wife of John Pettet 3 stockes of bees to be delivered as aforesaid
Item I geve unto my Goddaughter Elizabeth Hawkes the daughter of William Hawkes a Joine bedsteddle and a chest with a broken foote standing in the chamber at the staiers head to be given her after my wifes decease

Item I geve unto William Hawkes my mill with al things belonging to have it after my wives decease and after the decease of William Hawkes to his son William
Item I geve also to my daughter Mary the wife of John Pettit after my wives decease my biggest brasse Caldron
Item I geve unto my wife Pleasant the benifit of the lease of my house during her life and after her decease I give it to Parnel my daughter the wife of Wm Hawkes and to her heires forever
Item I give also to my said wife three stockes of bees and al the bedding bedsteddle and other goods now in the chamber where she useth to lodge

Al the rest of my moveable Goods unbequeathed I give unto John Pettit my son in law paying my debtes legaces and funeral chardges
And I make and ordaine the said John Pettit my sole executor of this my last wyl and testament
and further my mind is that William Hawkes and John Pettit shal each of them pay 40s to Jacob and Robert Clement either of them 40s apeece

The last will and testament of the said Robert Saffery made the day and yeare abovesaid touching his lands

Inprimis I give unto my aforesaid wife Pleasent one tenement and an acre of land belonging and ten perches of land more or lesse planted with fruite trees lying in Eastry aforesaid to enioy the full benefit and use of it during her natural life she keeping the reparcions of this tenement and that above bequeathed unto her,

And after the decease of my said wife I give my said tenement and three rods of land parte of the aforesaid acre abovesaid with the appurtenances unto Saffery Pettit sone of John Pettit and his heires for ever

Item I geve unto Josua Pettit sone of John Pettit aforesaid after my wives decease the ten perches of land aforesaid which was bought of John Grove to him and his heires for ever
I give also to the said Josua Pettit an orchard adioyning to the aforesaid ten perches and to the tenement with the appurtenances to him and his heires for ever

Provided and my mind and will is that if my wife Pleasant doe not seale a release to my heires when they that reqest the same or any of them of al her right she hath by vertue of any writing heretofore made and written touching the said lands or lease afore mentioned according to her promise That then my mind is she shal have noe benefit of this my last wil byt onely one shilling.

In witnes whereof I have here unto set my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written
