Also I Give and Devise all and every my Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever with their and every of their Rights Members and Appurtenances unto my Two Sons Hugh Sale and Joseph Sale and their Heirs and Assigns forever to be Equally divided between them and to be by them held and Enjoyed as Tenants in Common and not as Joint Tenants.
Also I Give and
bequeath unto my Son William Sale the Sum of Thirty pounds of good and Lawfull Money
of Great Britain to be paid to him within Twenty months next after my decease by my
Executors herinafter named.
Also I Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Sale
the Sum of Thirty pounds of like Money to be paid to her when and so soon as she shall
arrive to the Age of Twenty one years or be Married which shall first happen by my
Executors hereinafter named.
Also I Give and bequeath unto my Son Benjamin Sale the
Sum of Fifty pounds of like Money to be paid to him when and so soon as he shall Arrive
to the Age of Twenty one years by my Executors herinafter named.
Also I Give and bequeath unto my Son George Sale the Sum of Fifty pounds of like money
to be paid to him when and so soon as he shall Arrive to the Age of Twenty one years by my
Executors hereinafter named.
Also I Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Sale the sum of
Thirty pounds of like money to be paid to her when and so soon as she shall Arrive to the
Age of Twenty one years or be Married which shall first happen by my Executors
hereinafter named.
Also I Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Jane Sale the Sum of
Thirty pounds of like Money to be paid to her when and so soon as She shall Arrive to the
Age of twenty one years or be Married which shall first happen by my Exectuors
hereinafter named.
Also I Give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Sale the Sum of Fifty
pounds of like Money to be paid to him when and so soon as he shall Arrive to the Age of
Twenty one years by my Executors hereinafter.
Also I Give and bequeath unto my Son Jonathan Sale the Sum of Fifty pounds of like Money
to be paid unto him when and so soon as he shall Arrive to the Age of Twenty one years by my
Executors hereinafter named.
Also I Give and Dispose of the Custody and Tuition of my said Sons Benjamin Sale, George Sale, Thomas Sale and Jonathan Sale until they shall respectively attain the Age of Twenty one years and of my said Daughters Elizabeth Sale, Mary Sale and Jane Sale until they shall respectively attain the Age of Twenty one years or Days of Marriage which shall first happen unto my said Two Sons Hugh Sale and Joseph Sale and to the Survivor of them.
Also all and every the Rest and Residue of my Ready Money, Debts, Goods, Chattels and Personal Estate whatsoever (my Debts Legacys and Funeral Expences being paid and satisfied) I Give and bequeath unto my said Two Sons Hugh Sale and Joseph Sale Equally to be divided between them share and sharealike the better to Enable them to provide for maintain Educate and bring up my said sons Benjamin Sale, George Sale, Thomas Sale and Jonathan Sale until they shall respectively attain the Age of Twenty one years and my said Daughters Elizabeth Sale, Mary Sale and Jane Sale until they shall respectively attain the Age of Twenty one years or Days of Marriage which shall first happen and which I so hereby Require and Injoin my said Sons Hugh Sale and Joseph Sale to do and perform accordingly unless the said Benjamin Sale, George Sale, Thomas Sale and Jonathan Sale my Sons and Elizabeth Sale, Mary Sale and Jane Sale my Daughters shall be sooner able to provide for themselves.
And I do hereby make Nominate and Appoint my said Two Sons Hugh Sale
and Joseph Sale Joint and only Exectors of this my last Will and Testament.
And Lastly I do hereby Revoke all former Wills by me formerly made. In Witness whereof I the
said Joseph Sale the Testator to this my last Will and Testament contained in Two Sheets of
Paper to each Sheet thereof have set my hand and seal. Dated the day and year in the

Published and Declared by the said Joseph Sale the Testator as and for his last Will and

In the Name of God Amen the Seventeenth day of May In the Twenty Sixth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland, King Defender of the Faith and so forth. And in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Fifty three I Joseph Sale of the Parish of Fant otherwise Frant in the County of Sussex, yeoman do make publish and Declare this present writing to be a Codicil to my last Will and Testament and desire the same to be taken and Termed as part thereof, that is to say.
Whereas by my said Will which is dated
on or about the third day of March which was in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven
hundred and Fifty two I have Given several pecuniary Legacys and have Given the Rest of
my personal Estate unto my two Sons Hugh Sale and Joseph Sale to be Equally divided
between them and have nominated and appointed my said Two Sons Hugh Sale and
Joseph Sale Join and only Executors of my said will.
Now I do hereby Declare that I do
not Intend by this Codicil to Revoke or alter my Will or any Devise Bequest Legacy, matter
or thing therein contained but do hereby Ratify and confirm the same Save only that it is
my Intention to make the Addition thereunto which is herein after set forth, that is to say.
I do hereby Constitute Nominate and Appoint my Good and Worthy Friends John Barton of
Poulthouse in the Parish of Hadlow in the County of Kent yeoman and William Edlow of
Shipborne in the said County of Kent yeoman Overseers of my said will to take care and
see the same performed according to my true Intent and meaning.
And I do hereby with
the Greatest Earnestness Recommend it to my said Two Sons Hugh Sale and Joseph
Sale to take the Advice and Direction of the said John Barton and William Edlow in the
Conduct and Management of all their affairs In regard they are persons of whose
knowledge and Honesty I have a Great Opinion and at the same time have the strongest
Assurances of the their Intentions to Serve my Family to the best of their knowledge and
the utmost of their Power.
In Witness whereof I the said Joseph Sale have to this present
codicil sett my hand and Seal Dated the Day and year first above written the Mark and
Seal of the above named Joseph Sale Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the said
Joseph Sale to be a codicil to and by him desired to be deemed and taken as part of his
last Will and Testament in the Presence of us who Subscribed our names as witnesses
hereunto in the Presence of the said Joseph Sale �

This Will was proved at London with a codicil the Seventeenth day of June In the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and fifty eight before the Right Honourable Sir George Lee Knight Doctor of Laws master keeper or commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oaths of Hugh Sale and Joseph Sale the sons of the deceased and the Executors named in the said Will to whom administration was Granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased having been first Sworn by Commission duly to Administer.
