In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Sales now of the parish of Down in the County of Kent Husbandman being sick and weak in Body but of sound mind Memory and understanding do make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows (that is to say) First and principally I recommend my Soul into the hands of God who gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried with decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors hereinafter mentioned In hopes of a joyful resurrection at the last day through the alone? Merits of my Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ And as for all such Worldly Goods and Effects as it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me with I give and bequeath as follows

Viz that whereas my wife Ann Sales has already had and squandered away so much of my money goods and effects as fully amounts to what she may expect or demand from me at my decease and has for some time past eloped and gone from me without my privity or consent I therefore give and bequeath to her my said wife Ann Sales the sum of one shilling in full � and dower of all she may hereafter my decease demand or expect to have

And as for all the rest residue and remainder of my Worldly goods and effects whatsoever and wheresoever as ready money book debts bonds bills notes apparel and soforth after all my just debts and Funeral Charges be paid by my Executor hereinafter named I give and bequeath to my nephew Henry Sales of Down in the County of Kent aforesaid and I hereby nominate and appoint my said nephew Henry Sales sole and full Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former will and wills by me heretofore made

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of September in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty one The Mark and Seal of the Testator Thomas Sales Signed Sealed published and declared by the above named Thomas Sales the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses hereto in the presence of the said Testator and in the presence of each other

This will was proved at London the thirteenth day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty two before Worshipful Andrew Coltee Ducarel Doctor of Laws and Surrogate of the Right Worshipful Peter Calvert Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Henry Sales the nephew of the deceased and Sole Executor named in the said will to whom Administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased having been first sworn duly to administer.
