Notes
It would appear that Susanna was married twice. She mentions Richard Sales
as her son, but also John Latter deceased as her son. Since her husband James
Latter the Elder is deceased, it would seem that she remarried, to a Sales. We
think that this is the Susanna Latter from Fant, or Frant, in Sussex, who married
Joseph Sale from Hadlow in Kent. They married in Wilmington, Kent 15
September 1750, a strange move.
She was a landowner, letting some lands at Hook Green to three tenants,
including Edward Latter, who sublet to 'undertenants'. A daughter had married
Samuel Bellingham of Rotherfield. She had a grand daughter Elizabeth, whose
surname was Turner.
There is a marriage in the Frant registers for James Latter and Susanna
Beecher, 3 June 1729. Found a baptism for James Latter, parents Edward and
Mary, 7 September 1706. Found an IGI baptism for Lamberhurst for a Susanna
Beacker, parents Richard and Mary, 30 November 1708.
