Imprimis whereas the said Doctor Satterthwayte my said late deceased husband did by his said last will and testamt Give unto my daughter Anne now wife of Robert Newman by the name of his daughter Anne the summe of two hundred pounds to be disposed of as laid out in his said will is appointed The which is since by me paid and laid out accordingly And for which I have a discharge under the hand and seale of the said Robert Newman I give to my said daughter Anne Newman three of my best silver spoones
Item whereas Alsoe the said Doctor Satterthwayte by his said last will and testament did give unto my three other daughters Elizabeth Hoole
the then wife of Charles Hoole Clarke, Mary Satterthwayte Spinster And Susanna Satterthwayte now wife of Arthur Tooker to each of
them a porcon (That is to say) to Elizabeth Hoole by the name of his daughter Elizabeth two hundred and fifty pounds To his daughter Mary three
hundred pounds and to the said Susanna Tooker by the name of his daughter Susanna three hundred pounds None of which Said sumes are as yett paid
and Laid out only security given by me to the said Arthur Tooker for the said last menconed three hundred pounds Devised as aforesaid to the said
Susanna My will and meaning is the same sev[er]all Sumes and every part of them together with the due interest thereof shalbe first and principally
paid and discharged unto my said three daughters Elizabeth Mary and Susanna by my Executor hereafter named within one yeare next after my decease
And in the meane time to pay to them and every of them Interest after the rate of six pounds p[er] Cent p[er] Annu[m] for the Loane or forbearance
thereof
and my will desire and meaning Further is That the overseers of this my will hereafter named be (by their advices) aydeing and assisting my said
Executor in seeing the same disposed of to such uses intents and purposes and in such manner As in and by the said will
of my said late husband is directed and appointed
Item whereas the said Doctor Satterthwayte by his said last will Did give unto my sonne Bishopp Satterthwayte by the name of my sonne
Bishopp five pounds The which I have since payd him And alsoe did by his said will give to him yearely out of his estate tenn pounds on a condicon
in the said will expressed I give unto my said sonne Bishopp Satterthwayte fourteene pounds p[er] Annu[m] more then the tenne pounds p[er] Annu[m]
given him by his Father as aforesaid for and dureing the Terme and space of twoe yeares next after my decease And noe longer
Att which time my will is That my said Executor shall (by and with the advice of my Overseers) Lay out the summe of four hundred pounds in the
purchase of some Lands of Inheritance or other good estate And to be settled To the uses, And in manner and forme following (vizt)
To the only use and behoofe of my said sonne Bishopp Satterthwayte for and during the terme of his naturall life And from and after his decease,
to such wife, as he shall marry for her Joynture; And from and after her decease, To the only use and behoofe of his heires of their two bodyes
lawfully to be begotten
And for want of such Issue, To the only use and behoofe of the heires of the body of the said Bishopp Satterthwayte lawfully to be begotten
And for default of such issue: To the only use and behoofe of the aforesaid Anne Newman Elizabeth Hoole Mary Satterthwayte And Susanna Tooker my
said four daughters And to the heires and assignes of them the said Anne, Elizabeth, Mary, & Susanna for ever, Or to
any other uses as shall be by my said Overseers, And Executor or the Survivors of them) thought meet and convenient
Provided Neverthelesse, That if my said sonne Bishopp Satterthwayte shall att any time molest sue trouble or otherwise prossecute my said Executor For any the p[er]sonall, (or other estate) of (his said Father) or me, Or for any Legacy Annuity or other Annuall payment by his said Fathers will, or by this my will Given or bequeathed unto him, (other then the four hundred pounds to be settled as aforesaid) or for the said Annuall Summes of of tenn pounds and fourteene pounds Devised unto him for his prsent Maintenance for the Space of two yeares after my decease as aforesaid untill such Settlement can conveniently be pfected Or if my said Sonne Bishopp Satterthwayte shall refuse to give a release and Sufficient discharge to my Executor, Of all claimes interests, or demand, of, in, to, or out of, All the reall or psonall estate of his said father or me, on settling the said four hundred pounds to the uses before in this my will expressed, or to such other uses as shall be (by my said Overseeres and Executor or the Survivors of them) thought meet and Convenient, or shall any molest or wittingly or willingly hinder my Said Executor in this due Execution of this my will Then in Each, and every of the said cases my will and meaning is the said four hundred poundes hereby given, And intended to be settled as aforesaid, shalbe equally devided between my said four daughters, And he ye said Bishopp to have noe advantage of this my will, or any benifitt of any my psonall Estate whatsoever,
Item I give my said three daughters Ann Elizabeth and Mary one hundred pounds a peece more then what was devised them by theire
Fathers will In case my Estate amount to so much, My other Legacies funerall charges, and debts, being first paid, Satisfied and discharged, My
daughter Susanna being allready secured one hundred pounds more then was devised to her by her said Father,
And if there be any overplus more then what I have herein devised I give the same equally between all my said children then liveing
Item if my Executor be putt to charges for the getting in of my Estate or any part thereof, or for pr[o]veing this my will, My will and meaning is
that the Costs and damages occasioned thereby be equally borne by My Said Sonne Bishopp and all my said four daughters, And to be deducted out of
their severall legacyes
Item I devise and bequeath All my Messuages, Lands, tenements and hereditaments to be entred upon and sould by my Executor for payment of part
of my said legacies, and debts
Item I give and bequeath unto my Brother Richard Relfe, his wife, And each of his children as shall be liveing att the time of my decease
to each of them a gold ring of tenn shillings price, to be delivered each of them wthin one yeare next after my decease,
Item I give to my Sister Butler and each of her children, each of them a ring of tenn shillings price to be delivered to
each of them within one yeare next after my decease
Item I give to my two Cozens Richard Relfe, And his Sister, sonne and daughter of my Brother Arthur Relfe each of them a gold
ring of tenn shillings price within one yeare next after my decease
Item I give unto all my sonns in Law, and my said sonne Bishopp, And to all my said daughters and Grandchildren
each of them a gold ring of tenn shillings price, to be delivered to each of them within one yeare next after my decease
Item I give to my Grand: daughter Mary Newman one silver box of five shilling peeces of gold being in number about thirty Six, to be hers
imediatly after my decease
Item I Injoyne mutuall due love of all my Children each to other And I doe hereby make ordayne Constitute and appoint my Loveing Sonne in law
Robert Newman Sole Executor of this my Said last will and testament unto whome I doe give and Devise one
silver porrenger and a peece of Gold
And I intreat my worthy freinds Mr John Baynes Mr Robert Pynsent and Mr Edward Brewster to be Overseers thereof And to Councell and
diret my said Executor in the due execucon of ye same And I doe give and devise to each of them for theire Care and advice therein a gold Ring of
twenty shillings price To be dilvered to them and each of them within one yeare next after my decease
In witnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the fourth day of November in the ninteent yeare of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charle the second By the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King defendor of the faith &c Annoq Dm 1667 Signum Elizabeth Satterthwayte
This is the last will and testament of the aforesaid Elizabeth Satterthwayte written in five sheets of paper to the four first sheets of which
shee sett her hand, and to the last her hand and Seale and then declared and published the same to be her last will and
Testament in the prsence of us

(Relfe) of Tenterden and Elizabeth Maplesden, married Phillip Satterthwaite 30 November 1634, St
Margaret-At-Cliffe, Kent. At the time of marriage Phillip was described as of Tenterden, Clerk, MA.
Elizabeth Satterthwaite married Charles Hoole 27 December 1653, North Cray, Kent.
Ann Satterthwaite married Robert Newman 31 August 1660, Bromley, Kent.
Susanna Satterthwaite married Arthur Tooker 19 May 1666, Bromley, Kent.
Bishop Satterthwaite Admitted sizar to Trinity 20 February 1656, matriculated 1656-7, migrated to
Peterhouse where he was a scholar, BA 1663-4 source: Alumni Cantabrigens.
Elizabeth’s sister, Susanna Relfe (bap. 1614, Tenderden), was married to Goddard Butler (d. 1663 Tenterden).
Elizabeth’s brother Richard Relfe Jnr (bap. 1621 Tenterden) married Marian Odiarne 10 March 1646, Tenterden, Kent.
Elizabeth’s brother Arthur Relfe (bap. 1608, Benenden-1649, Cranbrook) married Martha Huckstepp (1614 Tenterden-1651 Cranbrook) 20 June 1636,
Cranbrook. Their son Richard was baptised 8 May 1640, Cranbrook and daughter Elizabeth was baptised 21 May 1637, Cranbrook.
