In the name of God Amen the twentie seaventh daie of Aprill Anno dini One thousand six hundred fortie and one in the seavententh yere of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Kinge Charles etc.
I John Savedge of the parish of Chidingsone in the Countie of Kent husbandman beinge at this present time in bodlie health and of a good and p’fect memory (praised be God) doe make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge
First I comend my Soule to Almighty God and to Jesus Christ my onlie Saviour and Redeemer by whose death and passion I fully trust with an assured hope to have all my sinnes freelie forgiven and to attaine in the joyfull resurrection of Eternall life comittinge mu bodie to the Earth from Whence it was taken in decent sorte to bee buryed at the discrecon of my Executrix hereafter named

Item I give unto a Preacher that shall preach at my funerall tenn shillinges
Item I give unto the poore people of Chidingstone tenn shillinges
Item I give and bequeath unto Susann my wife one joyned bedstedd wth the flockbedd and boulster whereon I lye wth covereinge and blancketts and all belonginge to it
Item I give to my said Wife two paire of sheetes and halfe a dozen pewter if the sorte comonlie used, and one iron pott, and one of the joyned Chests shee brought and all her wearinge apparrell, lynnen and woollen

Item my mynde is that Elizabeth and Joane Savvedge my daughters shall equally allowe unto Susann my said Wife convenient meate drinke dwellinge and maynetenannce duringe the terme of her naturall life
which if the said Susann my Wife shall refuse to be at my said Daughters maynetenannce and fyndinge, and not willinge to dwell with them, Then I will and devise that the said Elizabeth and Joane my daughters their Executors Administrators or Assignes shal Equally paie unto the said Susann my wife, five poundes of lawfulll money of England yerelie and in every yere duringe the terme of her naturall life at the fower usuall feasts or terme in every yere

Provided alwaies That if Susann my wife shall happen to marry againe after my decease, Then my Will is That my said Daughters their Executors or Assignes shall paie but three pounds yerelie unto the said Susann my wife after her second marriage at the fower usuall feasts or trmes aforesaid

The residue of all my moveable goods cattell cattells and howsehould stuff Whatsoever, my debts legacies and funerall discharged, I give and bequeath unto the said Elizabeth and Joane Savedge my daughters to be Equallie devided betweene them, Whome I doe make the jonnt and full Executrixes of this my last will and testament

And I doe make my loveinge friends Ralph Watson of Bromly and Robert Curde of Penshurst Supervisors hereof to whome I give and bequeath five shillinges a peece over and above their charges anie waies taken herein to see this my last Will performed accordinge to my mynde
Item I give unto all my Godchildren twelve pence a peece to bee paid then upon demand thereof by my Executrixes

In Witnes whereof to this my present Testament and last will, revokinge all former and other Wills I the said John Savedge have sett my hand aad Seale the daie and yere above written

Probatum fuit: 7th January 1641/2 to Elizabeth and Joane Savedge – the Executrixes and daughters of the said deceased.

Note: John Savadge was buried at St. Mary, Chiddingstone on 17th October 1641.
