In the name of God Amen The Sixth day of Aprill in the Three and Thirtieth yeare of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles the Second by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith &c. Annoq. Dom. 1681
I John Savage of Hothfield in the County of Kent Blacksmith being well in body and of perfect minde and memory thankes bee given to Almighty God for the same doe make and ordaine this my Last Will and Testament in manner and forme following
And I doe willingly and with a free heart render my Soule into the hands of Almighty God and my body I Comitt to the Earth from whence it came to bee decently buried according to the discrecon of my Executrix hereafter named And as Touching my estate and goodes wch it hath pleased Almighty God to blesse mee withall in this world I give and bequeath as followeth

Inpri[mi]s I give and bequeath unto my Sonne William Savage all my workering Tooles whatsoever to bee enjoyed by him imediatly after my Decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my Two Daughters Anne & Margarett, the wifes of Walter Joanes and Richard Borne the Sume of one shilling apeece to bee paid unto them and either of them within one moneth next after my Decease
Item I give and bequeath unto all my grandchildren now liveing or wch shall bee liveing att the tyme of my Decease the Sume of One Shilling apeece to bee paid unto them and every of them within one moneth next after my decease

And the rest and residue of my goods & Chattells whatsoever I give and bequeath unto my Loveinge wife Margarett to bee disposed att the tyme of my decease att her will and pleasure
And I doe make and ordaine my said Loveing Wife Margarett Sole Executrix of this my Last Will & Testament

In Witnes whereof to this my Last Will and testament I have Sett my hand and Seale date the day and yeare first above written

Probatum fuit: 17th March 1681/82. Inventory taken.

John Savage was buried at St. Margaret, Hothfield on 1 Mar 1681/82.
Margaret Savage, widow was buried at Hothfield on 28 Sep 1706.
Ann Savage of Great Chart, spr. 22, daughter of John Savage of Hothfield, blacksmith married Walter Jones of Hackington, turner, bach. 35 by Licence dated 8 Dec 1669. Married at Great Chart 18th Dec 1669.
William Savage married Mary Mercer at Hothfield 2 Sep 1680.
