I the Name of God Amen
I Robert Savage of Luddesdowne in the County of Luddesdowne in the County of Kent Yeoman being sick and weak in Body but of sound disposing Mind and Memory praised be God for the same doth make and ordain this my last Will and Testament this present seventh day of April in the fourth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George now King of Great Britain etc. Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and eighteen in Manner and Form following (that is to day)
First I recommend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God in certain hopes of Salvation through the Meritts of my blessed Saviour Jesus Christ my Body I commit to the Easrth to be decently buryed according to the discretion of my Executors hereafter named and as for my worldly Estate which it hath pleased God to bless me withall I give and dispose thereof as follows

Imprimis I will and order that all my just Debts which I shall owe at the Tiem of my decease be first payd and satisfied by my Executors hereafter named
Item I give and devise all that my Messuage or Tenement Lands and Premisses with the Appurtenances scituate lyeing and being in Shinglewell [Singlewell] in the Occupation of Thomas Perry unto George Savage my Son and to his Heirs and Assigns for ever

Item I give and bequeath to Richard Savage my son the Sum of Two hundred and fifty pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain to be payd him within one year next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Savage my daughter the Sum of Two hundred and fifty pounds of like lawful Money of Great Britain to be payd her at the age of one and twenty years with Interest for the same from the Time of my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto my four Children namely Richard Savage John Savage George Savage and Elizabeth Savage all my Linnen that I shall have at the Time of my decease equally to be divided between them

Item I give and bequeath unto John Savage my Son the Profit and Advantage of the Lease of the Farm I now use for the remaining Part of the Term therein to come he paying and performing the Rents and Covenants therein conteined (sic) on my part to be performed

All the Rest and Residue of my Goods and Chattles and personal Estate of what Kind or Nature the same be of after my debts Legacyes and Funerall Expences are payd and satisfied I give and bequeath unto my two Sons John Savage and George Savage equally to be divided between them

and I do hereby make and ordain my said two Sons John Savage and George Savage joint Executors and do hereby request and desire my two Friends Mr. Richard Hayes and Sir George Hayes to be my Trustees to see this my Will performed until my said Executors shall attain to their several Ages of one and twenty years

In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament conteined in one Sheet of Paper set my Hand and Seal the day and Year first above written Sign.

Probatum fuit: decimo die March Ann Dini [10th March 1726] to John Savage and George Savage the sons.

Notes:
18th February 1691 Robert Savage, otp. married Isabella Large of Halling at All Saints, Luddesdowne.
Isabella Savage was buried 24th May 1695 – recorded at Snodland, buried at Birling, after the 2 children she had were christened at All Saints, Snodland:
21 Jun 1693 Richard; 3 Jan 1694 Robert (Bu.: 4 Dec 1695).
Robert Savage then married and Elizabeth (not found) who was buried 13th October 1705 - recorded at Snodland, buried at Birling, after she had born 5 further children (all chr. at Snodland):
14 Dec 1698 John; 23 Mar 1700 George; 27 Jan 1701 Mary (Bu.: 14 Apr 1701); 8 Feb 1702 Robert (Bu.: 8 May 1703); 6 Oct 1705 Robert.
Daughter Elizabeth Savage’s christening is not found.
