I will and direct that all my just debts (except a debt of fifty pounds due to my Son in law William French of Park Street in the Borough of Southwark in the County of Surrey Gentleman (which he has promised not to require payment of until after the decease of my Wife) and my funeral & testamentary expences be in the first place fully paid and satisfied by my executors herein after named
I give and bequeath to my Granddaughter Mary Ann Scoones and my Grandson Leonard Scoones Children of my Son Leonard Scoonesthe sum of ten pounds each if and when they should respectively attain the age of twenty one years
I also give and bequeath to my Grandson Francis Peckham son of my daughter Amelia Peckham the sum of ten pounds
and to my daughter Rebecca now Rebecca Pearson the sum of twenty pounds
And I direct that the two last mentioned legacies shall be paid by my said Executors within
twelve months next after my decease
And subject to the payment of my debts funeral and testamentary expences & the legacies aforesaid I give devise and bequeath unto my dear Wife Jane Scoones all that my freehold estate situate in the Parish of Barming in the County of Kent And all other my real estate and the use and enjoyment of all the rest residue and remainder of my Personal estate and effects of what nature or kind soever To hold the same respectively unto my said Wife for and during the term of her natural life
And I direct that an Inventory be made and kept by my Executors hereinafter named of all my
Personal estate and effects the use whereof I have given to my said Wife for her life
and from and after the decease of my said Wife I give and bequeath
unto my daughter Hannah now the Wife of the said William French if she shall be living at
the decease of my said Wife the sum of twenty pounds
to my Daughter in Law Mary Scoones the Widow of my son Henry Scoones deceased if she shall be then
living the sum of five pounds
my daughter in law Susanna Scoones the Widow of my son Cornelius Scoones deceased if she shall be then living the sum of five
pounds
To Mrs Scoones the Widow of my son Francis Scoones deceased if she shall be then living the sum of five pounds
And I direct that the said last mentioned legacies shall be paid within twelve months after the decease of my said Wife and that the aforesaid debt of fifty pounds to the said William French with lawful interest for the same from the day of the commencement of the said debt be paid as soon as conveniently after the decease of my said Wife
And in case my Personal estate should prove insufficient for payment of the whole of my debts funeral and testamentary expences I hereby charge my real Estate with the deficiency nevertheless my Personal estate to be the Primary estate for Payment thereof as far as the same shall extend
And from and after the decease of my said Wife as aforesaid I give devise and bequeath unto my sons Richard Scoones of Union Street in the Borough of Southwark aforesaid Shoemaker and Edward Scoones of East Peckham un the County of Kent Blacksmith my said Freehold estate at Barming aforesaid And all other my real Estate And all the rest residue and remainder of my Personal Estate (subject and charged as aforesaid) To hold the same respectively unto and to the use of my said Sons their heirs executors admors and assigns for ever for their own absolute use and benefit
And I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said dear Wife Jane Scoones and my said sons Richard Scoones and Edward Scoones Executrix and Executors of this my Will
And I hereby revoke all former and other Wills by me
at any time heretofore made and declare this and this only to be my last Will
and Testament In Witness whereof I the said Henry Scoones the Testator have
hereunto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of April One thousand eight
